27th RFFF Congress cum 4H Youth Camp, a success

A total of one hundred eighty-two (182) Rural-based Organizations (RBOs) members joined the 27th Regional Farm Family Congress cum 4-H Youth Camp held in the City of Bogo on April 19-21, 2017 with the theme “Nagkahiusang Banay, Malambuon ug Himsog Kanunay.”

Six (6) participating delegations from Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Dumaguete City and Bayawan City competed in a number of contests. The City of Bogo as 5-times Champion (City Category) now hosted the said event.

The contests held were 4H Empowered Quiz Bee, 4H Handicraft Making, 4H Singing Contest, RIC Folk Dance, RIC Vegetable Pickles Processing, P4MP Doble Kara, Farm-Family Galing Mais and Fishermen Net Mending.

This year’s Regional Winners were the Province of Cebu (Province Category) and Dumaguete City (City Category).

Gracing the opening ceremony was Atty. Salvador Diputado, LLM,PhD. who served as the keynote speaker. In his message, he emphasized the role of family in agriculture development. He furthered that as a basic unit of the society, family could contribute a lot especially in achieving food sufficiency in the country by producing their own food.

Distinguished guests present were; Mayor Jose Carlos A. Martinez of Bogo; Dr. Carolyn May O. Daquio, Training Center Superintendent II of ATI-7; Dr. Gracia F. Arado, Training Center Superintendent I/4-H Focal Person of ATI-7; Ms. Sol Bensi of DA-RFO 7; and some partners from LGUs of the different provinces of Region VII.

Meanwhile, more than thirty (30) 4-H youth participated the coastal clean-up and mangrove planting at Brgy. Siocon, Bogo City.
