Abaca and Pina Fiber Farmers in Capiz and Aklan gear up for production, processing, and marketing

Banga, Aklan -  In a common goal to meet the growing demand for abaca and piña fiber in the country, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) for Western Visayas has partnered with the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority to train farmers and processors from Capiz and Aklan on production, processing, and marketing.
 

Herb Producers and Processors in Aklan Learn Effective Packaging, Labelling, and Marketing

Some 588 farmers graduated from the Agricultural Training Institute’s School on the Air (SOA) on Packaging, Labeling, and Marketing of Fresh and Processed Herbs.

The SOA is one of the extension modalities of the ATI which annually offers a season long radio broadcast on farming management practices of site-specific crops. The program was launched early April at LGU Kalibo’s radio station 98.5 DyYM Radyo Natin Kalibo and ended airing on the last week of August.

e-Learning on the go with ATI’s e-Extension Program

Staying true to its mantra of providing free education on agriculture and fisheries at “Any Time, Any Place, and Any Pace™”, the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center 6 has recently conducted a series of briefing and orientations at universities and colleges in the Region to promote the knowledge products and services offered under the e-Extension Program.

Farmers encouraged to produce vermicompost as organic fertilizer

A two-day training on vermicomposting for vegetable and fruit farmers from the barangays of Palale and Cerrudo, Banga, Aklan were able to enhance their knowledge on organic vegetable production conducted on June 14-15, 2016 at Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center VI demo site at ASU, Banga, Aklan.

"Go Green" for ATI-RTC VI

As Climate Change Advocates, ATI-RTC VI staff will help in the greening program with its tree planting activity on October 3, 2014 at Malumpati Resort, Pandan, Antique, where the worlds cleanest river can be found.This is the second tree planting activity for this year. The first was conducted at Brgy. Dingle, Banga, Aklan. Fruit bearing trees were planted in areas where there is a need to reforest and bring back the bio-diversity in these places identified earlier.

Abaca Production: ATI’s Support to Rehabilitate Typhoon Yolanda-ravaged Areas

Training on abaca production technology was staged in order to rehabilitate typhoon-ravaged areas in the Province of Aklan. The rehabilitation effort for typhoon Yolanda-stricken areas is to be productive and well-developed through fostering awareness among farmers in the preservation and conservation of abaca eco-system.

Western Visayas Advocates “Pagbabago”

Agriculture and fisheries stakeholders of Western Visayas confirmed the need for change in building a more dynamic and responsive extension system during the Seminar Workshop on Pagbabago tungo sa Matuwid na Daan held last March 15-18, 2011 at Iloilo City.  Some 50 representatives of LGUs, SUCs, DA & its attached agencies and AFCs participated in a series of workshops that culminated in the affirmation of the paradigm shifts that has to take place both at the organizational and personal level in trekking the “matuwid na daan

4H achievers, farmer entrepreneur share learnings

Federation President Vianney Ojerio, Pagaypay Barangay Captain Ricky Sulpico and farmer-entrepreneur Ramon Peñalosa graciously shared learnings and nuggets of wisdom to the participants of the Western Visayas 4H Regional Achievement and Recognition Day last February 26 and 27, 2011. Vianney Ojerio was a member of the Philippine delegation to 2011 International 4H Youth Camp held at Korea last February. He shared the various strategies of the 4H organizations in different countries.

Western Visayas 4H regional meet opens

ILOILO CITY - The Western Visayas 4H Federation  opened  the Regional Achievement  and Recognition Day  in simple rites as the nation celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution. Fittingly, the confab’s theme is “Empowering 4H Club members towards sustainable development”.
