Guimarasnon students take a tour at ATI’s e-learning site

MS. Erma Conde of GSC - Baterna campus presenting her downloaded e-certificate after completing the e-course on Quail Production

The Center’s Information Services (IS) team visited the province of Guimaras to teach agriculture students from Guimaras State College (GSC) - Baterna Campus and Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Memorial High School on how to register and enroll in the Institute's e-Learning program. This has made possible thru the request of Ms. Rhea Joy Flora, one of the instructor of Guimaras State College.
e-Learning is a component of the e-Extension program that offers online courses and other knowledge products and services to anyone needing up-to-date information on agriculture, fisheries, and extension. It aims to cater to the needs of extension workers, students, and faculty for research and future field reference beyond what are available in the four corners of the classroom or even in local libraries.
At the end of the 2-day activity, a total of 64 e-certificates were downloaded and awarded to the students. E-courses enrolled by students include Yummy Yam: Ubi Production, Basic Urban Gardening, Vermicomposting: Turning Trash to Cash, Seaweed Farming and Auspicious, Vandaceous: Growing Vanda and Vandaceous Orchids.
“Thank you very much to the staff of ATI-RTC 6 as well as to the GSC Baterna Campus for having us here. We really learned a lot because of the various e-courses that were taught to us. It will also help us to decide what course are we going to take during our Senior High School”, says Ms. Renaly Benitez, Grade 9 student of Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Memorial High School.
The orientation was held on March 23 - 24, 2017 at Guimaras State College - Baterna Campus, San Lorenzo, Guimaras.
