ATI-Central Luzon conducts Organic Vegetable Production Training for RlC-Bataan

The Agricultural Training Institute in Central Luzon conducted a three-day training course on Organic Vegetable Production for the Rural Improvement Club (RIC) of Bataan. It was held at the conference hall of the municipality of Orion in Bataan on January 20-22, 2015. 

The said activity was conducted in support to RA 9710, also known as Magna Carta of Women, which emphasizes the economic, political, and socio-cultural realities that affect women’s current condition.

Municipalities in Nueva Ecija holds Farmers' Classes on Organic Farming

NUEVA ECIJA, PHILIPPINES - As part of the features of the blended course on School-on-the-Air (SOA) on Organic Agriculture (OA) Vegetable Production, a farmer’s class is a one day training program that was conducted in different municipalities in Nueva Ecija starting June 6 until June 22, 2017.

Aside from listening to radio broadcasts, the said training program was conducted to encourage the farmers to venture in organic farming.

ICT for Agri: RCM Roll-out in Nueva Ecija

The Agricultural Training Institute in Central Luzon, in collaboration with Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office III (DA-RFO III) and International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), conducted the Provincial Roll-out on Rice Crop Manager (RCM) Use and Operation for Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) in Nueva Ecija. 

ATI National Director leads Oathtaking of Central Luzon Farmers’ Association

Dr. Luz A. Taposok, Agricultural Training Institute National Director, led the swearing into office of the Region 3 Farmers’ Association Officers. The association, with Ms. Anette Patdu of Diaspora Farm (Bacolor, Pampanga) as President, is composed of all the learning site cooperators in Central Luzon. This group fosters harmonious relationship among them and at the same time help one another through sharing of learning experiences.

ATI graces Awarding of Seed Capital Fund in Dinalupihan

The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in Central Luzon, together with other national government agencies, attended the Awarding of Seed Capital Fund held by the municipality of Dinalupihan in Bataan through the efforts of Mayor Gila Garcia on October 7, 2016 at Patio Michelle, Dinalupihan, Bataan.

ATI, DA-RFO Collaborate: Reach more Farmers, Reach Rice Sufficiency

The IRRI initiated project called Nutrient Manager provides farmers with the right kind, amount and timing of application of fertilizer. In partnership with the Department of Agriculture and PhilRice, it is now known as Rice Crop Manager, since management practices were included in the recommendation. 

Following the RCM recommendation, an additional of 400– 500 kg/hectare could be attained.

Communities often face various concerns or issues that directly or indirectly affect the environment they live in. The need to organize community members to mobilize and challenge political priorities is crucial for society to grow. In community organizing, power is defined as the ability to act.

ISS network convene, share their ‘best practices’ anew

The Information Services Section (ISS) network of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) convened last July 18-22, 2016 at Hotel Palwa, Dumaguete City for the second leg of the Knowledge Management Updates. 

The activity was conducted to update the network on the status and accomplishments of ISS projects in the region and harmonization of IS activities for 2017. 

Also, one of the highlights of the event was the sharing of the ‘best practices’ of each region in implementing their innovative projects. 

YES meets success!

As our national hero said, the youth is the hope of our nation. Empowering them specifically towards nation building holds up to this dictum. With this, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) devised a program to endow the youth with necessary skills to help them and the nation in the field of agriculture.

In 2013, since the dissolution of the Youth in Agriculture and Fishery Program (YAFP), it gave way for the establishment of the Produktibong 4-H Scholarship of the Youth Empowerment through a Sustainable (YES) Program. 

Learning Beyond The Walls: Empowering Farmers via Farmers’ Field School

The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in Central Luzon launched a total of five (5) Farmers’ Field School (FFS) on High Value Crops Development Production (HVCDP) from June to July 2016.

Selected RMTU Staff undergo Grant Proposal Writing: A Blended Course

As part of strengthening partnerships with State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and expanding the use of e-Learning in the academe setting, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in Central Luzon conducted batch 1 of Grant Proposal Writing: A Blended Course for 25 faculty and staff of Ramon Magsaysay Technological University (RMTU) on June 22-23, 2016 at RMTU, Iba, Zambales.

Capacitating Central Luzon FITS Center Managers in Developing IEC Materials

As part of the series of training to capacitate the FITS Center Managers in Region 3 and to boost the Techno Gabay Program, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in Central Luzon conducted its 2nd batch of Training Course on IEC Materials Development.

Intensifying RCM Deployment in Aurora

To provide farmers with crop and nutrient management advice, the ATI in Central Luzon conducted Rice Crop Manager (RCM) briefings/deployment in Aurora, in collaboration with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg). 

A total of 80 farmers were given recommendations using the RCM app, which was developed by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). They were given with information on nutrient and crop management customized to farming conditions and needs. 

ATI Central Luzon Spearheads RAFEN Launching

The Agricultural Training Institute, being the national orchestrator for a unified and efficient agriculture and fisheries extension (AFE) system, has been establishing partnership mechanisms to harmonize extension delivery. One major initiative is the establishment of the Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Network (RAFEN). RAFEN plays an important role in the implementation and accomplishment of strategic goals and interventions enumerated in the 2017 Regional Extension Agenda & Programs (REAP) and the 2017-2022 AFE Strategic Plan.
