Farmer by Chance

 For Christian Valdez, becoming a farmer was by chance but staying in the farm was his choice. In 2010, Christian became hands-on on their three-hectare farm when his father became an active village leader in the forest region of Angadanan, Isabela. During this time, Christian was not studying, thus he had no choice but to help his parents in farming.

AEWs Train on Animal Disease Diagnosis and Management

SAN MATEO, Isabela. Thirty five participants across Region 2 attended the Training on Animal Disease Diagnosis and Management on April 24-26, 2017 at ATI-RTC 02 San Mateo, Isabela.

Livestock productivity is threatened all over the country by numerous infection microorganisms that lead to economic losses of farmers in the countryside. When the outbreak attacks, the livestock inspectors are always blamed. The training was organized to update their laboratory knowledge and skills for better service delivery.

ANGADANAN, Isabela. Winning the Gawad Saka search for the outstanding young farmer in the regional level is one of the biggest achievement of Mr. Christian Valdez of Angadanan, Isabela. After seven years of being hands-on on their field helping his parents, their unproductive farm now became a diversified farm.

The Essence of a True Leader and Building a Team Instilled to 4H Campers

CABAGAN, Isabela. As part of the activities of the Regional Summer Youth Camp, campers were given lecture on leadership and team building during the second day. Dr. Corazon dela Cruz, dean of the College of Accountancy of the St. Paul University, Tuguegarao City, shared her leadership experiences.

Dr. dela Cruz helped the participants to define what is a true leader, tactics to be an effective leader and different types of leadership.

4H Members Convene in Isabela for the 4th Regional Summer Youth Camp

CABAGAN, Isabela. Members of the 4H Club of region 02 convened at ATI-RTC 02 Cabagan Center, Cabagan, Isabela for their annual Regional Summer Youth Camp held on April 18-21, 2017.

The four-day convention was composed of series of lectures, teambuilding activities, and different competitions.

At least 140 participants attended the camp consisting of 4H members, 4H coordinators, Volunteer Leaders’ Association of the Philippines (VLAP), Youth Empowerment through a Sustainable Program (YES) scholars from the five provinces of Region 02.

RCM Deployment, On Time for the Upcoming Planting Season

CABAGAN, Isabela. The intensive 10 batches of training on Rice Crop Manager use and operations were completed and indeed successful in enhancing knowledge and skills of agricultural extension workers and farmer-leaders. But the training is just the start of a bigger responsibility – the implementation of commitment and action plan of the graduates.

10 Batches of RCM Training Completed

CABAGAN, Isabela. As part of the roll-out plan of the Rice Crop Manager, the Agricultural Training Institute in Region 02 (ATI-RTC 02) had conducted the last three batches of Training on Rice Crop Manager Use and Operations on April 4-7, 2017. This completed the 10 batches of training targeted for the year.

Upland Farmers of Minanga, Peñablanca Trained on SALT

PEÑABLANCA, Cagayan.  Bulk of the upland areas of Peñablanca are now converted into corn areas.  Farmers are not aware of the impacts of cultivating upland areas without the right technology.  To teach them transform their practices, conserve, sustain fertility and productivity of the soil, the training on sustainable corn production in sloping areas was conducted at MInanga, Peñablanca, Cagayan.

PAA organizes new local chapters in R02

SAN MATEO, Isabela.  The Philippine Association of Agriculturist (PAA) have now a regional chapter and provincial chapters in Region 02.

More than 100 agriculturists from the different parts of Region 02 responded to the call of the ATI-RTC 02 to officially form the local chapters of the PAA.
