Season-long Training of Trainers on Good Agricultural Practices on Mango Culminated with a Mass Graduation

San Mateo, Isabela.  After five months of hands-on training on good agricultural practices on mango production, a mass graduation was held on May 8, 2013 in ATI-RTC 02, San Mateo, Isabela.  Conducted from December 10, 2012 to May 2013, the training of trainers (TOT) produced 17 agricultural extension workers from region 02 as mango trainers and 54 farmers from the farmers’ field school which will take part in the mango industry.

Agricultural Extension Workers Participate in Gender and Development Training

To sustain motivation and commitment of the agricultural extension workers (AEWs) to sustain high performance in extension delivery, training on gender and development was conducted last  March 25-27, 2013 at ATI-RTC, Garita, Cabagan, Isabela.  It was participated by 41 AEWs from the province Isabela.

Inbred Rice Seed Production Conducted for Seed Growers

Cabagan, Isabela.  As one of the major stakeholders in the rice industry, 19 seed growers were trained on inbred rice seed production and certification for seed growers.  It was conducted on March 25-27, 2013 at ATI-RTC 02 Cabagan, Isabela with DA-RFO 02 and BPI-National Seed Quality Control Services.

Guzman Meets Climate Smart Farmers’ Field School Participants

Cabagan, Isabela. Participants of the Climate Smart Farmers’ Field School (CSFFS) were called for the Level II of the Climate Smart Farmers’ Field School (CSFFS).  The level II CSFFS was conducted on March 12 for the participants of the Penablanca and March 13, 2013 for Tuguegarao City at Organic Building of DA-RFO 02 and Demo Site of City Government of Tuguegarao respectively. It was attended by 128 farmer participants of Penablanca and 57 farmer participants of Tuguegarao City.
 

Agricultural Extension Workers Trained on Leadership & Corn Technology Upscaling

Cabagan, Isabela. As part of the commitment of ATI-RTC 02 to the corn industry in Region 02, a three-day training on Leadership and Corn Technology Upscaling was conducted March 19-21, 2013 for Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) at ATI-RTC 02  Cabagan, Isabela.  The training aimed to enhance knowledge, skills and attitude of participants on leadership and new technologies.  It was attended by 42 AEWs from the different municipal and provincial Local Government Units (LGUs) in the region. 
 

ATI-RTC 02 Takes Part in Celebrating the National Year of Rice

Cabagan, Isabela.  Proclamation 494, signed by President Benigno S. Aquino III on October 18, 2012, declared 2013 as the National Year of Rice.  With the theme "Sapat na Bigas; Kaya sa Pinas!" there is a need to sustain the campaign to attain rice self-sufficiency by 2013 with the Department of Agriculture (DA) as the lead and the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice). 
 

New Seed Growers Trained on Rice Seed Production

Cabagan, Isabela. As one of the major stakeholders in the rice industry, new set of lowland inbred rice seed growers were trained on seed production and certification.  A five-day basic training course on lowland inbred rice seed production and certification was conducted last February 4-8, 2013.  It was conducted in ATI-RTC 02 Cabagan, Isabela. 

Participatory Planning Workshop, a Move to Strengthen AFEN in Region 02

 San Mateo, Isabela.  As ATI-RTC 02 is setting a gradual shift of extension modality from commodity-based to function-based following the six major agriculture and fishery extension goals,  a participatory planning workshop was conducted for the Agriculture and Fishery extension Network (AFEN) members to harmonize the extension agenda in region 02.  The workshop was conducted on March 5-7, 2013 at ATI-RTC San Mateo, Isabela attended by 42 staff from attached agencies of DA-RFO 02, Department of Environment
