Leadership skills of 4-H club officers were strengthened

Caoayan, Ilocos Sur. Recognized as prime movers in the youth sector, the Regional and Provincial Officers of the 4-H Clubs in region 2 were capacitated on leadership skills. The four-day training was recently conducted at Alad Resort and Restaurant at Caoayan, Naguilian, Ilocos Sur. The training aimed to empower and strengthen the participants in terms of managing organization with dynamism, competence and commitment, and to mold their capacities as leaders and managers in the implementation of their projects. 
With a highly qualified resource person who rose from a simple family, now a professor and doctoral degree holder in a very young age, an active youth leader, Dr. Dennis Bacuyag, a Professor in the Cagayan State University (CSU) Tuguegarao City inspired and touched them with his sharings and testimonies related to competencies, qualities and values of an effective leader; human relations skills; and personal effectiveness and creativity. He cited practical examples and discuss the topics in a very practical way which the participants really appreciate the methodology. He also let participants identify their negative attitudes and let them write at least one of it and have burned it as way of forgetting and erasing it from their values. This will make them more responsible as leaders not only in their personal lives but as part of their social responsibilities in their community. 
The participants were also able to analyze success and failure factors in managing an enteprise as they noteworthy places and outstanding youth organization.  Best strategies that they have learned both from the lecture and the expository tour will help them sustain and expand their livelihood projects and social resonsibilities as leaders.  Emergin Mimban & Claris M.
