The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) was created in 1987 by virtue of Executive Order No. 116. This mandates ATI to be responsible for the training of agricultural extrension workers and its clientele.
Its function was further intensified with the enactment of Republic Act 8435, known as the Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act of 1997.
Under the AFMA, ATI is tasked to lead in the country's extension and training programs of agriculture and fisheries.
