The Department of Agriculture launched the "e-Extension Program" for Agriculture and Fisheries. The 3 major components are the following:1. e-Learning > Online, offline, blended courses > Digital learning resources2. e-Farming > Technical advisory services on ageiculture and fisheries technologies > Technical assistance to rural-based organizations > Agriculture marketing services3. e-Trading > Online trading > Microfinancing > Agriculture marketing services For more information try to visit: www.e-extension.gov.ph Our Center has an e-Learning Office (ELO) as an added functionality of the Center which focuses on promoting e-Learning program to our stakeholders in the region in support of the full implementation of the Department of Agriculture's e-Learning Program.Our ELO coordinators are Ms. Rhoda Elid-Austria and Ms. Evangeline Jimenez.e-Learning is not simply a matter of turning a traditional course into an online version. It is only a delivery method not a learning solution on its own. Moreso, e-Learning is the Medium not the message.why e-Learning?1. Reduced cost on the part of the learner. e-learning simply delivers more training to more people with less money expenses.2. Reduced learning time because while enrolled in e-learning, action or application can be done right away.3. Increased learning retention.4. Self-paced. e-learning is available 24/7.5. Just in-time content- e-Learning material can be updated.6. Consistency. Distributing content centrally means that the same quality information can be delivered in the same way to train all at the same time.7.Customization. The e-learning courses can be tailored according to the region's adaptability.8. Feedback. The progress of the participants can be tracked. e-Learning course is....1.The e-Learning course is a certificate course. The e-learner must satisfy a certain requirement to get a certificate of the course. The certificate will be signed by the director of ATI and other agencies involved and this certificate will be mailed to the participant.2. Broken down into modules.3. Each module is made up pf lessons.4. Each lesson or key concept may have an unscored self-assesment question (SAQ).5. each lesson may end with field activity which would require face- to- face interaction.6. Each module will end at end of Module Test. The e-Learning Coordinators has lined up the following activities for July-December 2008:1. Conduct briefings to Participants/Extension Workers during the conduct of 'on center' or 'off-center' trainings.2. Conduct briefings to Provincial Agriculturists (PAs), Provincial Veterinarians (PVs), City Agriculturists (CAs), Municipal Agriculturists (MAs), Municapal Agricultural Officers (MAOs) in Region XI.3. Conduct briefings thru TV (Mag-UmaSenso Ta TV Program) and Radio Station (DXRR) guestings in Davao City.4. Promote e-Learning through press releases to daily Newspapers and through Trade Fairs Exhibits.5. Recruit Participants to enroll in e-Learning courses online.
