Rubber Industry Players Undergo Skills Training

Participants are exposed to actual rubber tapping during the Training on Rubber Production and Management in Digos City,

The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) XI equipped farmers with skills in rubber production.
A Training on Rubber Tapping and Management was conducted by ATI at San Isidro Labrador, Digos City, Davao del Sur on November 21, 2016 with 36 farmers who participated.
The training Project Officer Ofelia A. Sanchez said that the activity aims to inform the farmers on the status of the rubber production in the national and local level, recommend clones of rubber in the Philippines and enable them to learn the botany and physiology of a rubber tree, as well as the importance and considerations in rubber tapping.
“Aside from the lectures, the participants were also taught on the different rubber tapping materials and tools, skills in making tapping materials and actual tapping in the field”, Sanchez added.
Mr. Joemar Gabato said that he learned a lot in the lectures specially on rubber tapping system and management.
Another participant Mr. Tito Coso, said that he is very thankful to participate in such training as he gained more knowledge in Cacao production. "Dili nako ni makalimtan sa tibuok nako kinabuhi nga misalmot ako sa maong training, inubanan sa mga maayo nga facilitators sa ATI." (I will never forget that I attended training this training facilitated by the competent ATI trainers).
Since Davao is among the top rubber-producing regions, the ATI XI ensures to train the rubber industry players, helping them to be able to contribute to the emerging commodity in agriculture and improve their economic condition.
