ATI XI Empowers Women through Early Child Care and Development Training

With high cases of unemployment, high infant mortality and malnourished and uneducated children among others that besetting in many areas of Davao region, the Agricultural Training Institute Region (ATI) XI conducted a training on Early Child Care Development (ECCD) in Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental.


A total of 34 women from different barangays of the municipality attended the training on April 3-5, 2017 held at St. Xavier Parish Conference Hall, Poblacion, Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental.


The training aims to increase the awareness of women on early child care by training them to become responsible parent and eventually become effective partners of the government in developing children to become responsible and productive citizens in the future.


Lectures on the provisions of RA 8980 that can be applied to early child care and developmnent among farming household families, the structure of the local council for the protection of children, practices that would ensure the safety of children and their protection against abuse, healthy life style, practices conducive to child care and development, critical stages of a child’s development and the corresponding concerns that should be given to the child,  ways of managing anger and stress, and practices of responsible parenting were discussed by the Municipal Social Welfare Development Head and officers.


Municipal Agriculturist Candido V. Perdido said that he is grateful to ATI XI for conducting the training in their municipality, considering Governor Generoso which has a high incidence of early pregnancy as a result of lack of nurturing abilities from their families and irresponsible parenting.


"I learned how important modelling is to the holistic development of our children. As a parent, our lives should validate our message. Meaning, what we teach to our children should be observed in the way we live. I am blessed to be part of this relevant and productive training from ATI XI," Marilyn G. Rosales, one of the participants said.


Moreover, Municipal Vice Mayor Vicente Orencio  who attended the closing program of the training emphasized how important early child care is. Hence, the municipality alloted budget to Early Child Care Development Program which is now functioning and can be accessed by the locals.


“I encourage you to always prioritize the all-around development of your children,” Orencio added.


With the support and assistance from the local government unit of Governor Generoso the training was conducted successfully.
