Husband and Wife Team of ATI Northern Mindanao Speaks Before ASEAN Audience

 The husband and wife team of ATI Northernmindanao, Efren and Noemi Beth Macario were among the invited Resource Speakers during the ASEAN Training on Sustainable Agriculture Focused on Climate Smart Farming Business. The fourteen-day training was attended by 19 representatives coming from eight (8) member countries, namely Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Lao-PDR, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia and the Philippines. The training was held at Bayview Park Hotel in Manila and Lima Park Hotel in Batangas. The training started on May 15-27, 2017. The participants are composed mostly of Agricultural Extension Workers. Some of the participants include 2 farmers, 1 from academe.

Mr. Efren Macario, the Administrative Officer IV of ATI-RTC 10 discussed topics such as Farming as a Business, Developing a Vision and Goals of the Farm, Identifying Risks and Risk Management. Ms. Noemi Beth Macario, Information Officer III discussed: Climate Change, the New Normal, Impacts of Climate Change in Agriculture and Building resilence in the Midst of Climate Change.
As part of the training, the participants did a market survey at San Pablo City, Laguna market.  They also visited the Ato Belen and Forest Wood Farms in Laguna as a benchmarking activity.  On the side, the participants were brought to the Malacañang Museum for them to appreciate Philippne History.
Other speakers in the training were: Mr. Jun Dayanghirang, Dr. Vilma Patindol, Ms. Pia Cosico and Ms. Sherrylou Alfaro, all from ATI. Mr. Emmanuel Hugh Velasco of Organic Options and a Japanese Expert,  Mr. Fumiaki Sato.
The Training is under the ASEAN Capability Building Project 2 sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture,Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Japan.
