Jaya: The Youngest 4-H'er Farmer

Jaya: The Youngest 4-H'er Farmer

The typical 10 year old would prefer watching cartoon movies, playing dolls and building doll houses. But not Jayasree Harsha A. Bayag, the youngest Resource Person during the recently concluded Regional 4-H Youth Camp, conducted by ATI-RTC X. Jaya is the daughter of school teacher Junah Bayag and Hazel Astudillo Bayag of Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, and a Grade 5 student of Bethel Baptist Church Academy. Instead of playing the toys she received during Christmas and birthdays, she would prefer helping her mother and father in the garden and tending her lettuce garden and feeding ducks and fishes. She earns her own income with her Lettuce Production Project. If she wants to buy toys, her parents made it a rule that she use her own income. Another source of income are her speaking engagements with ATI-RTC X activities such as trainings and the 4-H Club Youth Camp where she is one of the presenters of her farming experience. Asked what really makes her happy, Jaya answered, "I am happy when we earn from the garden because my mama is happy, and i am happy too".
