SOA Pinakbet set in Ilocos Sur

Candon City, Ilocos Sur – As part of the continuing effort to improve farm production in the region, the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center I (ATI-RTC I) introduced the School on-the-Air (SOA) on Sustainable Lowland Vegetable Production for a Climate Smart and Resilient Agriculture in the province of Ilocos Sur.

Prior to the conduct of the SOA, a briefing was conducted last March 16, 2017 at the ABC Hall, Candon City, Ilocos Sur, to finalize the schedule of activities of the program. It was agreed that the SOA will start on April 18 to June, 2017and will be aired every Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:00 – 11:00 in the morning over DZTP 693 Radyo Tirad Pas in Candon City, Ilocos Sur.

Twelve (12) agricultural extension workers from the different participating LGUs in the province attended the activity. Ms. Maricel D. Dacapias, Information Officer III at the same time the project officer, discussed the strategies and responsibilities of coordinators and other partner agencies in the implementation of the program. Also, present during the briefing were Dr. Rogelio C, Evangelista, Training Center Superintendent II, the Municipal Agriculturist of LGU, Candon City, and a representative from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist in Ilocos Sur.

This year, the SOA aims to provide and update farmers with the knowledge and skills on vegetable production and climate change and help them achieve and sustain productivity, profitability, and environment safety of lowland vegetable farming technologies.
