RAFEN 1 sets path for 2017 onwards
Batac City, Ilocos Norte - The Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Network 1 (RAFEN 1) held its first quarter meeting to craft the 2017-2021 work plans for the Convergence Initiative Program entitled: “Timpuyog idiay Away Dur-as inna Iburay” or “Damayan sa Barangay, Ginhawa Ibibigay”. The meeting conducted at ATI-RTC 1 Satellite Training Center, Batac City, Ilocos Norte last March 16-17, 2017 was attended by thirty five (35) RAFEN member representatives including guests agencies like DOST and DSWD.
The major outputs of the two-day meeting were: 1) formation of provincial action teams which members consist of agencies located at each of the four provinces (Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan); 2) derived commitments and contributions of the concerned agencies to the proposed interventions in each of the four provinces; and 3) strategic plan for the implementation of the convergence initiative program, projects and activities for the year 2017 onwards.
In addition, activities undertaken include the presentation of the Climate Change Vulnerability Plan by Ms. Maricel D. Dacapias, Information Officer III/Climate Change Focal Person of ATI-RTC 1. This project will be integrated in the convergence initiative program and to be implemented in one of convergence initiative program pilot sites.
The meeting was headed by Dr. Rogelio C. Evangelista, TCS II/ RAFEN 1 Chairperson and Dr. Melinda F. Mangabat, TCS I/ RAFEN Focal Person.
