Learning Never Stops: Bicolano Farmers Visit ATI’s LeAD Center

Visitors from the Bicol Region toured around the Learning and Development (LeAD) Center on August 10 to 11, 2016 for a better appreciation of agriculture and fisheries extension in the country.

Farmers and practitioners of organic farming from the Local Government Unit of Ligao, Albay listened to Karl Louise M. Salibio of the Agricultural Training Institute-Information Services Division (ATI-ISD) as he discussed the features of the Learning and Discovery (LeAD) Center. The team got interest with the e-Learning component of the e-Extension Program for Agriculture and Fisheries that is featured in the LeAD Center’s Interactive Corner. Dexter Mendoza, the group’s coordinator, encouraged the team to take up the online courses saying, “This is good. The certificates is a great idea.”

Apart from this, the group showed appreciation of the LeAD Center’s Diorama which showcased the existing farming systems in the Philippines organized based on their topography (from coastal to highland) as well as the photo exhibit of some successful farmers. The LeAD Center is housed at the ATI Central Office in Diliman, Quezon City.
