ATI-USM Partnership in Extension Endures

The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) recently renewed its partnership with the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) for agricultural extension works in Region XII. ATI and USM officials, led respectively by OIC Director Luz Taposok and President Francisco Gil Garcia, signed a Memorandum of Agreement last May 18, 2017 for the former’s continued and free use of the 3.19-hectare land in the USM campus for its satellite office and training facilities.
At present, USM provides accommodation, security, and protection to the five buildings of the ATI Regional Training Center (RTC) XII. These include the center’s offices, cafeteria, dormitory, and multipurpose hall.
Dr. Garcia expressed continued support the Department of Agriculture and the ATI in helping the farmers and fishers in their region. For their part, the USM commits to make available its existing farm projects, research and extension project sites, and other facilities for practicum and experiential learning of the ATI’s trainees.

Director Taposok thanked USM for allowing the Institute to pursue its mission to uplift the condition of rural communities in Southern Mindanao. She likewise expressed that ATI looks forward to the continued sharing of expertise in research and extension. ATI RTC XII Center Director Abdul Daya-an, meanwhile, vowed to introduce improvements in the existing facilities of the said satellite office.
