ATI Prepares for Profiling, Masterlisting of RBO Members
MAJAYJAY, Laguna – The need to continuously update the databases of Rural-Based Organizations (RBOs) in the country is inherent as their memberships incessantly grow. Hence, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) is set to support the initiative of RBO officers to update the profile of their respective organizations and members starting this year until 2018.
This was one of the agreements during the RBO National Consultative and Operational Planning Workshop held early February. Aside from the profiling and masterlisting of their members, representatives from the seven RBOs supported by ATI proposed for the updating of their registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Likewise, the RBO representatives lined up activities for this year and the next, which include national conventions, trainers’ training, farmers’ summit, and community immersions, etc.
They also looked back on some major activities such as the International Farm Youth Exchange Conference; National Congress of the Pambansang Mannalon, Mag-uuma, Magbabaol, Magsasaka ng Pilipinas (P4MP), Magsasaka Siyentista (MS) and Indigenous Peoples' Organization; Writeshop on the Crafting of RBO Documentaries and Milestones; and the Enhancement and Assessment on Organic Agriculture Production National Certificate II, among others.
ATI OIC-Director Luz Taposok graced the opening program and encouraged everyone to support the Department of Agriculture’s thrust of going back to basic. She also spoke of the importance of maximizing resources, saying that “in every inch of soil, we can produce food for our table.”
The National Consultative and Operational Planning Workshop was attended by 42 regional RBO focal persons, selected national officers of the RBOs, and representatives from ATI Partnerships and Accreditation Division. The RBOs represented at the activity include the 4-H Club, 4-H Volunteer Leaders Association of the Philippines, Japan Agricultural Exchange Council Alumni Association of the Philippines, Farm Home Extensionists Association of the Philippines, Rural Improvement Club, P4MP, and MS.
The workshop was held on February 7-9, 2017 at the Costales Nature Farms in this town.
