ATI-ISD Chief Antonieta J. Arceo receives her certificate of appreciation from DOLE-NRCO officials

MANILA, Philippines – To reiterate and reassure its commitment in providing assistance to the returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) joins the program assessment of Byaheng Agriprenuer.

The Byaheng Agripreneur Program aims to attract OFWs and their families to invest in agriculture by providing them access to up-to-date knowledge and information on agriculture and fisheries, and capability building activities, among others. It is being implemented by the Department of Labor and Employment - National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO).

The program assessment is a forum where NRCO convenes its Regional Reintegration Centers’ staff to discuss the issues and plans on the implementation of various reintegration programs. Apart from the assessment, the activity also served as venue for awarding of livelihood starter kits to their returning OFW beneficiaries as well as an orientation of the new Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Act and a training on gender sensitivity.

Antonieta J. Arceo, Chief of the ATI’s Information Services Division (ATI-ISD) presented the opportunities for possible collaboration under the Institute’s existing programs and projects such as capability building and access to agriculture and fisheries information and technology. Specifically, ATI will extend assistance to NRCO which includes provision of trainings, resource persons, information education and communication (IEC) materials and access to the e-Learning Program for Agriculture and Fisheries to the OFWs and their families.

Likewise, the Institute‘s network of training centers will mobilize and inform its accredited learning sites and Schools for Practical Agriculture to serve as learning and demonstration sites. Thus, the NRCO will visit the sites and will recommend these to their OFW beneficiaries.

Attended by some NRCO National and Regional Office Staff, the activity was held last August 10, 2016 at Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel and Casino.
