LOS BAÑOS, Laguna -- The transformation of the official website of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) and its experiences in delivering e-learning courses for the agriculture and fisheries sector served as one of the highlights of the recently held knowledge sharing workshop in Los Banos, Laguna.

The activity, dubbed as "Knowledge Sharing Workshop among the Information and Knowledge Management Community of Practice (CoP) " was under the “Capacity Development Program on Knowledge Management (KM) – Phase II” project funded by the Department of Agriculture - Bureau of Agricultural Research.

The workshop covered external and internal knowledge sharing techniques; sharing of best practices and lessons learned using social media such as blogs and tweets; face-to-face discussions; and world café. ATI's e-learning process advisor Jose Rey Alo served one of the resource persons during the said event and shared about how social media enhances KM and online presence of ATI and its network of training centers.

He also described how the official website of ATI, known as ATIiNteractive, enhanced the sharing of information about the programs and activities implemented by the Institute throughout the country. With the ATI's Training Centers, the website is now seamlessly integrated and maintained by the Institute's pool of web managers. Alo also gave the participants a walk-through of the e-learning site and described how KM evolves through e-learning.

The knowledge sharing workshop also tacked the experiences from the Smarter Approaches to Reinvigorate Agriculture as an Industry (SARAI) Project and the Climate Change Adaptation in Agriculture and Natural Resource Management in Southeast Asia or the KC3 of the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA).

The participants were composed of technical staff from the DA-BAR, information officers from DA attached agencies and regional field offices. The knowledge sharing workshop was a continuation of the back-to-back KM training held last April 13-17, 2015.

Conducted by SEARCA last September 1, 2015, the activity was held at the Acuaverde Beach Resort, San Juan Batangas.
