ATI Holds National Consultation and Networking Workshop for Rural-based Organizations

DILIMAN, Quezon City--- "Reach out to people in the hinterlands and uplands who are deprived of almost all comforts in life, go where few dare go and with God`s grace you will make a big difference in your organizations."

This was urged by Agricultural Training Institute Director Asterio P. Saliot to the participants of the National Consultation and Networking for Rural-based Organizations (RBOs) held recently.

Around 46 regional coordinators from the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Offices, representatives of the 4-H Clubs, Pambansang Mananalon, Maguuma, Magbabaul, Magsasaka ng Pilipinas (P4MP), Rural Improvement Clubs (RIC), Volunteer Leaders` Association of the Philippines (VLAP), Magsasaka-Siyentista, International Farm Youth Exchange, including Mayor Loreto T. Yu of Tacloban City and Congresswoman Lilia M. Nuño of Zamboanga City participated in the consultation workshop. ATI's regional coordinators for RBOs likewise joined in the activity.

The workshop aimed at setting up a work plan of upcoming national conventions for 2014, specifically on the complementation schemes and counterparts between ATI, DA and host regions. The activity also served as a venue to review the 2014 plans and directions for RBOs; determine areas of concerns for immediate actions; agree on the resolution of issues and concerns and evaluate and assess the conduct of 2013 national conventions.

The three-day event was held last February 11 to 13, 2014 at ATI Serrano Hall in this city.
