ATI Central Office Achieves ISO 9001:2008 Certification

DILIMAN, Quezon City – Ensuring the delivery of quality extension services in agriculture and fisheries by continuously improving its system and operation, the Agricultural Training Institute has successfully obtained ISO 9001:2008 Certification for its Central Office’s Quality Management System.

This consequently attests that the Institute’s head office implements a quality management system in accordance to the standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Thus, complying with ISO 9001 QMS is a pledge of ATI in achieving excellence in agricultural extension in the country while upholding customer satisfaction at the same time.

The certification covers ATI-CO’s major services which include: development and provision of trainings; knowledge products and services; accreditation of extension service providers; scholarships; alliance building; national extension system planning; and monitoring and evaluation.

ISO 9001:2008 Certification is issued by an external organization after conducting gap analyses and series of audits that determined the Institute’s readiness and compliance to the ISO 9001 QMS. In this case, the TÜV SÜD – an internationally recognized management systems solution provider, was the certification body selected by ATI.

The TÜV SÜD conducted a preliminary audit with ATI-CO last July 1, 2014 and a certification audit on August 26-27, 2014. The audit results were released thereafter, asserting the recommendation for release of certification for the ATI-CO QMS after the submission of the corrective actions for a few minor non-conformances identified during the latest audit. However, the ISO 9001:2008 Certificate is expected to be awarded to the ATI-CO after the approval of the submitted corrective actions from the committee. The TÜV SÜD will then conduct annual surveillance audits with the Institute.
