A Concept Paper on Extension Model for Farm Tourism

Committed in promoting and advocating organic agriculture in the country, the Agricultural Training Institute led by its Director Asterio Saliot, has laid out strategies that would encourage its stakeholders’ involvement in such.  Among these involve transforming farmlands into tourism destinations such as the: Learning Sites, Schools for Practical Agriculture, Farm Business Schools, and Ladderized Course in Agriculture.

In this line, ATI came up with a concept paper dubbed as “Big Brother – Small Brother Partnership for Agriculture Development: An Extension Model for Farm Tourism”.  It seeks to maximize the potential of farm tourism in the country by having farm sites owners and small-scale farmers collaborate in meeting the growing demands of the said venture.

This initiative of ATI is in pursuant to the joint memorandum of agreement forged last 2002 by the Department of Tourism (DOT) and Department of Agriculture (DA) for the promotion and development of agri-tourism in the country.
