ATI Joins 10th NOAC, 1st PNOPEx

PASAY CITY – The 10th National Organic Agriculture Congress (NOAC) and 1st Philippine Natural and Organic Products Expo (PNOPEx) concluded its three-day event held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC). Celebrating the organic agriculture community and practices, the expo and the congress were initiated by National Organic Agriculture Board (NOAB) through the Department of Agriculture. About 3,000 visitors from the different parts of the Philippines came to the event, according to the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Product Standards.

Opening ceremony was graced by Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala, together with Undersecretary Bernadette Puyat of NOAB, and Senator Grace Poe as the keynote speaker.

With the congress’ theme “a decade of sharing, a lifelong commitment,” the congress was composed of talks and breakout sessions on agri-tourism, policy and governance, marketing, research and technology, organic production technologies and practices in local settings. The congress wanted to create a venue for organic agriculture advocates to meet and share their advocacies in their respective crowd – farming, academe, research, technology promotion and policy making.

The PNOPEx, on the other hand, pooled 89 groups of exhibitors from different government agencies, private companies, and advocates of organic agriculture. The expo served as a festival of different sectors of the natural and organic agriculture community - from products, to services, to advocacy campaigns. ATI joined as one of the exhibitors in the event.

Side activities during the PNOPEx vary from different sectors of the organic agriculture community –food-related segments, business, fitness, fashion, and arts.

The event was held last October 17 to 19, 2013 in this city.
