ATI Holds 14th P4MP National Convention

BACOLOD CITY -- The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), as the extension and training arm of the Philippine Department of Agriculture (DA), recently gathered the officers of a farmers' federation in the country in its effort to unify all the activities for food sufficiency.
"One organization, One Vision: For a Food Sufficient Philippines," is this year's theme of the P4MP or the Pambansang Mananalon, Maguuma, Magbabaul, Magsasaka ng Pilipinas during its 14th National Convention where they had an opportunity for knowledge sharing on Innovative Extension Modalities directed towards the Food Staples Sufficiency Program (FSSP). Other topics discussed were on the concept of the Produktong Pinoy being introduced by the DA through ATI, updates on National Year of Rice and some technology breakthroughs. 
Participants were composed of 318 delegates such as the P4MP officers and members, as well as coordinators and focal persons from the regional, provincial, city and municipal level.
Another highlight of the activity was the field visitations on agri-tourism features of Ramon Peñalosa`s Farm at Victorias City and integrated farming of Pamela Henarez at Talisay City. 
Spearheading the convention was the P4MP National Federation Officers in coordination with the ATI and the DA Regional Field Offices.  
The activity was held last June 25 to 27, 2013 at Bacolod Pavilion in this City. (report from Alicia Rose D. Nebreja)
