Rural Women Supports DA's Gender and Development Program

RIC Nat`l Meeting for GAD Oct. 9-11, 2012

SAN MATEO, RIZAL--- Some regional presidents of the Rural Improvement Clubs of the Philippines gathered for a meeting that supports the gender and development program for rural women.
 
Entitled Rural Improvement Club (RIC) National Officers` Meeting in Support to Gender and Development, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) initiated the meeting to further support the RICs in terms of organizational management and capacity building.
 
The regional RIC presidents discussed various issues on gender and development; reviewed the constitution and by-laws of the Club; assessed the implementation of previous RIC identification card for its members; and came up with an RIC Manual. The activity has also been a venue to resolve some issues and concerns arising from the regions; agreed on the partnership with the Home Economics and Extension Association of the Philippines (HEEAP) and a tie-up with the Home Economics Teachers of the Department of Education (HET-DepEd).
 
Honorable Lilla Nuño, Sangguniang Panlalawigan member from Zamboanga City and concurrent RIC National President and Dr. Irene B. Maramag, former RIC National President were invited as resource speakers. ATI Director Asterio P. Saliot likewise graced the activity and delivered an inspirational message for the officers.
 
Moreover, during the officers` meeting, a turn-over ceremony was done for the newly inducted set of officers. They came up with an action plan for the next coming years to be implemented in their respective regions.
