ATI, SOAP Launch the first ever Organic Agriculture Directory

OA Directory launching w/ DA Sec. Alcala, ATI Dir. Saliot, some ATI staff & SOAP members

CEBU CITY, Philippines - Strengthening partnership to uphold common advocacy of promoting organic agriculture in the country, the Department of Agriculture through the Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) and the Spread Organic Agriculture in the Philippines (SOAP) movement recently launched the first Organic Agriculture Directory, as the highlight of the National Organic Agriculture Congress (NOAC) this year.

The Directory is a compilation of organic agriculture practitioners, farmers, advocates, restaurants and suppliers who are selling organic agriculture products and services.  Aside from profiling the industry, the Directory will serve as a guide for the farmers and consumers alike with regards to possible market for their organic produce and services.

Likewise, this is a very valuable information resource in terms of where to get what and where to contact who, as far as organic agriculture is concerned. It has been a product of collaboration between the private sector and the different government agencies under the Department of Agriculture such as the Bureau of Agricultural Research, the Agricultural Marketing Assistance Service, the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Product Standards, among others.
