ATI Glossary

The ATI Glossary contains a compendium of terminologies and their operational definitions as used in the various activities of the Agricultural Training Institute.

Absorptive Capacitysearch for term

Refers to the extent by which the amount released to the Agency was spent for a specific purpose or for the implementation of planned activities.

Accomplishment Reportsearch for term

A document indicating the indicative and/or narrative performance achievements of programs/projects/activities (P/P/As) of the Institute. Except for the Training and other Activity Completion Report (TACR) which is submitted three days after the conduct of every activity, all other reports are submitted on a monthly, quarterly, semestral, and annual basis.Percent Accomplishment refers to the quantitative value of targets relative to achievements; formula is physical/financial accomplishment divided by target multiplied by 100. It is assumed that if there were no targets indicated in the work plan but there were accomplishments, the % accomplishmentwould still be"0".Physical Accomplishment refers to the numerical/quantitative achievements; completed portion/part of the targeted output/deliverable.

TACR a one-page report indicating the accomplishments on training and other activities of the Institute.

Action Plansearch for term

Refers to the sequential presentation of activities and scheduled dates of execution to be undertaken for at least six months by the participant or project implementers after the conduct of training. Also referred to as the re-entry plan.

Refers to specific/detailed actions to be undertaken to achieve a project objective.

Administratorsearch for term

A person who manages the affairs of a certain group of people assigned to perform a specific task/activity.

Agricultural Training Institute Employees Association (ATIEA)search for term

An organization of rank and file DA-ATI employees, whose salary grade ranges from SG 22 and below, and aimed at promoting the general welfare of its members and the Institute.

Agricultural Training Institute Management Association (ATIMA)search for term

An organization of Center Directors who seek to forge harmonious relationship between and among them.

Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Network (AFEN)search for term

Formerly called the MFO-ESETS; network of agencies, institutions and organizations doing extension, education and training services.

Agriculture and Fisheries Sectorsearch for term

The sector engaged in the production, growing, harvesting, processing, marketing, developing, conserving, and managing of all agricultural and aquatic resources and areas.

Refers to the process of enhancing ATI performance through the conduct of review and planning workshops, Zonal Fora, management review, meetings, and the like.

A multi-component set of projects and activities that are planned and implemented to enhance the competitiveness of specific commodities (e.g.Rice, High Value Commercial Crops, Corn, Livestock, and Fisheries).

A conference or formal meeting of people with common interests.

Consultancy Servicesearch for term

Refers to the provision or outsourcing of highly specialized expertise.

Consultative Activitysearch for term

An activity to obtain advice or opinion as input for decision-making. It is be done through a meeting, conference or workshop participated by experts from the different fields/offices.

A themed gathering of people with common profession.

Convergence Activitiessearch for term

Refers to activities planned and implemented by several agencies with common objectives.

Corporate Briefingsearch for term

An activity conducted to provide information about the Institute. It is usually given to visitors, and customer groups.

A collection of interrelated data and set of programs used to access that data. It is designed to manage a large amount of information.

Documentationsearch for term

Refers to the process of recording the highlights of the activities of a training, workshop, conference, convention, among others. This may take the form of print, photo or video documentation.

A person responsible to regularly record processes; a member of the training team assigned to capture events, processes and methods either in the form of print, photo, video or multi-media.

e-Extensionsearch for term

Refers to the provision of extension services through the use of modes of information and communication technologies (ICTs).

e-Extension Program for Agriculture and Fisheriessearch for term

One of the major programs administered by the Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Training Institute that promotes the electronic delivery of extension service. Its goal is to have a network of institutions that provide a more efficient alternative to a traditional extension system for agriculture, fisheries and natural resources sectors, maximizing the use of ICTs to attain a modernized agriculture and fisheries sector. It can be accessed at It has three major components – e-learning, e-farming, and e-trading.

e-Farmingsearch for term

Refers to the delivery of farm and business advisory through the use of ICTs. Similarly, these services will be in collaboration with other government institutions’ subject matter specialists and ICT facilities. The services include technical advisory services on agriculture and fisheries technologies, and agricultural marketing assistance services.

e-groupsearch for term

An organized group of individuals with shared interest who gets updates and exchanges information through the electronic mail.

e-Learnersearch for term

An individual enrolled in the e-learning course offered through the e-Extension Program for Agriculture and Fisheries; Also referred to as Online Trainee

e-Learning Coordinatorsearch for term

The one who assists in the administration of the e-learning courses including the coordination of field activities of selected blended courses.

e-Learning Coursesearch for term

A certificate course delivered online and with a blended approach integrating field activities and face-to-face interaction between learners and experts. It comprises a set of learning modules which the e-learners will have to undergo. Also referred to ase-Course.

e-Learning for Agriculture and Fisheriessearch for term

One form of distance education that uses and maximizes the information and communication technologies to share knowledge in agriculture and fisheries. This includes online certificate courses, digital learning resources such as technology kits, video clips, and mini-tutorials.

e-Learning Modulessearch for term

Forms part of the e-Courses where there is a set of lessons, activities, self-assessment questions and end of module tests which the e-Learner will have to undergo.

e-Learning Office (eLO)search for term

One of the added functionalities of the ATIs network of training centers as well as those from the partner institutions It is created in support to the implementation of the e-Learning component of the e-Extension Program for Agriculture and Fisheries.

e-Tradingsearch for term

Online provision of information on market trends, investment, market prices, inventories and others; ICT-based marketing related information exchange for agriculture and fisheries.

Educational Toursearch for term

An activity wherein participants are brought to a successful and established farm or organization, where they could gain first hand knowledge and experience. Also referred to as exposure trip, lakbay-aral, mobile training, or field trip/tour.

Energizersearch for term

An activity designed to create an atmosphere of warmth and familiarity between trainer and participants or set the tone for the succeeding activities. Interchangeably used with terms like ice breaker or unfreezing.

Entry Behavior Index (EBI)search for term

A written examination that is administered before the start of a training activity to determine the knowledge level of the participants. This provides the benchmark on which increase of level of knowledge will be based after the training; also referred to as Pre-Test.

Evaluationsearch for term

An activity which aims to assess and measure the degree of accomplishment of a planned/targeted output/deliverable. This is an important part of any planning activity.Impact Evaluation - an activity which aims to determine the outcome of the results of the activities on economic and social status. This is undertaken 3 to 5 years after the implementation of a program/project.

Post-Test - the same written examination administered during the pre-test is given to determine the level of knowledge improvement in the participants; also referred to as PBI.

Post-Training Evaluation - an activity which aims to assess and measure the degree of accomplishment of a given set of training objectives at least six months after the conduct of training; It also includes assessment and measurement of accomplishments of re-entry plans/action plans, as presented by an individual/group of participants during the training. This activity can be a part of Result Evaluation.

Resource Person Evaluation - an oral/written assessment of a lecturer's topic content, teaching methodologies, use of teaching aids, and personality.Result Evaluation - an activity which aims to determine the application of learning, or the effect of an activity on the learner’s knowledge and skills. This may be undertaken at least six months after the conduct of an activity.

Training Course Evaluation - a part of the training activity which aims to assess the various components of a training course, and to generate recommendations of the participants regarding the training activity. It is administered on the last day of training.

Extensionsearch for term

Refers to the management of knowledge to empower farmers and organizations so that they can manage problems and resources in meeting their own objectives. Under the Philippine Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act of 1997, extension covers training services, farm business advisory services, demonstration services, and information, education, communication support services through tri-media.

Extension Approachsearch for term

Tools to facilitate technology adoption, like individual, group and mass media approaches.Individual - an extension approach that involve face-to-face contact between the extension worker and the farmer, at his farm and home. Examples are farm and home visits.

Group - an extension approach that makes use of the power relationship within the group. It allows the extension worker to cover a larger area because he can reach more farmers. Examples are group meetings, field days, method and result demo.

Mass media - an extension approach that expose large number of farmers to the same information at the same time. They include the use of media like radio, television and print likeposters, magazines and leaflets.

Extension Delivery Systemsearch for term

Means by which program goals are achieved through the use of combination of extension approaches, strategies and methods in knowledge delivery to customers of extension service.

Extension Grantsearch for term

Funds or subsidy provided to an accredited private extension service provider for an approved extension project.

Extension Methodologysearch for term

Means and ways of teaching improved farming and fishing technologies. Examples are technology demonstration, field day, farm visit, case study, etc.

Extension Programsearch for term

An ATI program referring to the provision of training, information, and other educational services given by the Institute to the agriculture and fisheries sector, to improve the individual or organizational capabilities of customers along the value chain towards increased income and improved quality of life.

Extension Projectsearch for term

Development projects/activities implemented by an individual or group under the supervision of the Institute.

Extension Researchsearch for term

An applied research aimed to meet specific, recognized need in extension

Extension Service Provider (ESP)search for term

Accredited organizations to undertake, in behalf of the Department of Agriculture, training and other complementary extension activities for a designated or identified customers.

Extension Worker (EW)search for term

Any technical employee involved in agriculture and fisheries advising, teaching and supervising, and organizing producers and other stakeholders along the supply chain.

Facilitatorsearch for term

A person or specialist who structures and implements learning situations and experiences with the end result of enhancing the learner’s capabilities to be sensitive to his/her own processes and behavior. Also referred to as trainer.

Fact Sheetsearch for term

A printed sheet containing useful information or instruction about a specific subject matter.

Farm or Business Advisory Services (FBAS)search for term

One of the categories of extension that involves on-demand knowledge sharing and advisory on production and post-production technologies, linking producers to the market, investments, and other strategic resources and support services with various stakeholders in agriculture and fisheries. It also covers the provision of financial and management advices especially for farmers, fishers, and for their organizations. These are technical services on RBO development, marketing-related assistance, feasibility study preparation, project proposal development, technology-based knowledge sharing, and on-farm visits.

Farmer-Extensionist (FE)search for term

A knowledgeable, active and dedicated farmer-leader acknowledged by the Institute. Also referred to as farmer-teacher

Farmer-Field School (FFS)search for term

A strategy of training farmers in an informal setting usually in the farmer’s field which aims to empower them to make farm decisions using discovery-based, experimental and participatory approaches. The entire production cycle of various commodities such as grains, livestock, and HVCC is covered.

Farmer-Led Extension (FLE)search for term

An agricultural extension strategy, maximizing the capability of farmer-leaders in promoting agricultural technologies.

Farmers'Contact Center (FCC)search for term

A helpdesk that caters to queries on farming and fishing technologies, including the programs and services of the Department of Agriculture and its bureaus and attached agencies. It is being administered by the Agricultural Training Institute, in collaboration with the various agencies of the DA, LGUs, SUCs and other stakeholders in agricultural extension.Launched last November 2009 in Bohol, it maximizes the use of information communication and technology (ICT) by offering different modes of communication such as voice call, short messaging system or texting, e-mails and online chat / instant messaging.The FCC is manned by agriculturists and supported by a pool of subject matter specialists on various topics on agriculture and fisheries extension.

Feature Storysearch for term

Field Daysearch for term

An activity of a FFS and/or a techno-demo project which aims to present its results to the public and other concerned stakeholders with the end goal of hastening the adoption of the featured technology in the FFS and/or techno demo.

Refers to subsequent activities done after the training and other extension activities to monitor what has been planned.

Forum/Symposiumsearch for term

A formal meeting held for the discussion of a subject of general interest during which individual speakers may make presentations.

Funding Agencysearch for term

An institution providing financial assistance for a special project.

Government Organizations (GOs)search for term

Public institutions providing various types of public goods/services to the people. These include government owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs). GOs are further categorized into national government agencies (NGAs), local government units (LGUs), and state colleges and universities (SCUs).

Host Teamsearch for term

Group of participants assigned to assist the training management team in its day to day activities. These include checking of attendance, introducing and thanking the resource person/facilitator, time keeping, learning recapitulation among others that do not disrupt their responsibilities as participants like listening, participating and sharing. May also be referred to as“service team.”

House Rulessearch for term

A set of desired standards given at the start of the activity to guide the behavior of the participants and staff during the conduct of the training. Also referred to as training norms.

Human Resource Development Programsearch for term

An ATI program that covers the provision of quality education and training for deserving technical, administrative, academic and scientific staff as well as the extension workers of DA, SUCs and LGUs to accelerate social progress and total human development.Degree - an educational program where a scholastic entitlement is given (BS, AB, MSc, MA, PhD, DVM, DMD, LLB, etc.)

Non-Degree - an enrichment/educational activity where a certificate is given; this also includes diploma courses. This may either be an in-house activity or conducted by other agencies, institutions or organizations.

In-House Development Activity - an enrichment/educational activity organized, coordinated, and funded by ATI for its employee (i.e team-building activities).

Outside Development Activity - an enrichment/educational activity organized and coordinated by non-ATIbut was attended by ATI employee (i.e conventions, workshops, seminar, trainings).

Thesis Assistance - a form of financial support awarded to an ATI employee pursuing a Thesis Program.

Foreign Training - an enrichment/educational activity attended by ATI employee outside of the country.

Self-Financed - refers to an ATI employee pursuing a degree course on his/her own without any form of financial assistance from the Institute

Indicatorsearch for term

A quantifiable unit of measurement of a particular input or output/deliverable.

Information Kitsearch for term

A package of printed IEC materials (brochures, leaflets, flyers, etc.) on a specific subject matter.

Information Support Servicessearch for term

One of the categories of extension that refers to the sharing of information between and among stakeholders through conventional means like print, radio and TV, indigenous folk media, or by electronic means. May also be referred to as“knowledge management.”

Information, Education and Communication materials (IEC)search for term

Are materials used to inform, educate and communicate, examples are leaflets, brochures, videos, among other. Also referred to as“knowledge products.”

Institutional Capability Development (ICD)search for term

A non-commodity based or social technology training course offered by the Institute to enhance knowledge, attitude, and skills.

Institutional Membershipsearch for term

Refers to professional affiliation and membership to external committees/organizations and technical working groups (TWG), the objectives and outputs of which contribute to the enhancement of the Institute’s functions and activities.

Integrative Learning Experience (ILE)search for term

A motivational strategy using songs, video clips, sayings, testimonies or relevant experiences to set the tone of a training or a certain topic, and to facilitate learning. Also referred to as Structured Learning Experience (SLE).

Interactivitysearch for term

The degree of responsiveness and is examined as a communication process in which each message is related to the previous message exchanged and to the relation of those messages to the messages preceding them.

Journalsearch for term

A publication issued by a society or institution; contains news, proceedings, transactions, and reports of work conducted in a particular field; usually technical in nature and treatment.

Key Deliverablesearch for term

Physical outcome/output produced by the programme; measurement of services provided.

Knowledge Managementsearch for term

Refers to the creation and subsequent management of an environment which encourages knowledge to be created, shared, learnt, enhanced, organised and utilised for the benefit of the organisation and its.

Knowledge Productssearch for term

Publications, IEC materials, and multi-media information packages, developed and disseminated in order to share and utilize knowledge to achieve the vision and goal of the organization.

Knowledge, Attitude and Skills (KAS).search for term
Leafletsearch for term

Aone page IEC material on one main topic or subject matter. It is usually differentiated from other extension materials by its highly visual orientation, containing about 60 to 70 percent visuals and just 30 to 40 percent text.The leaflet presents information in very short, easy parts, and this information is meant to address one very important question by the reader: What has this leaflet got to do with me? or Which of my problems can be addressed by information I can gather from this leaflet?.

Local Government Unit (LGU)search for term

A government organization run by officials elected by their constituents residing in specific geographical locations like barangay, municipality, city or province.

Magazinesearch for term

Usually designed for entertainment; contains special, descriptive articles, stories, poems, photos, etc.

Management Information System (MIS)search for term

Is a planned system of collecting, processing, storing and disseminating data in the form of information needed to carry out the functions of management.

Manualsearch for term

A comprehensive guidebook or how-to publication. The manual gives in detail the mechanics, procedure, and other details pertinent to the operations of a system.

Marketing-related assistancesearch for term

An intervention that would facilitate the marketing of agriculture and fishery products for profit.

Method demonstrationsearch for term

A methodology that teaches the step-by-step process of doing a particular practice or technology.

Micro-Teachingsearch for term

A training methodology where participants demonstrate their presentation skill on a subject matter to a group.

Modulesearch for term

A sub-component of a course focused on a specific subject matter which contains a set of lessons with the corresponding objectives, duration and the process of delivery.

Module Developmentsearch for term

Refers to the conceptualization and packaging of a set of lessons with their objectives, duration, and the accompanying delivery process.

Monitoringsearch for term

An activity which aims to oversee the conduct of planned/targeted outputs/deliverables. Results of this are input to planning and decision-making.Field Monitoring - refers to actual area visits being done to determine the extent of implementation of planned/targeted outputs/deliverables.

Table Monitoring - refers to the consolidation and analysis of physical performance.

Needs Analysis/Assessmentsearch for term

Refers to the process of identifying, understanding, and prioritizing problems, as well as the resources available to solve them; may include survey, focus group discussion, interview, or use of secondary data.

Network Development Program (NDP)search for term

An ATI program referring to activities that aim to build, upgrade, and maintain the Institute’s physical plant and facilities, as well as its vehicles and equipment. This also includes institutional development, linkages, networking, and resource generation efforts such as rentals, techno-demo proceeds, tie-up trainings among others. Formerly referred to as Center Network Development Program (CNDP).

Networkingsearch for term

An activity which aims to set-up linkages and arrangements which would be of mutual benefit to parties concerned.

News Releasesearch for term

Articles or information about recent events, happenings or activities of the organization for release to the print media, as well as to be uploaded in the agency’s website.

Newslettersearch for term

A publication released regularly for a group of people engaged in similar work. The newsletter provides the avenue for people working on the same concern, to keep abreast of what is currently doing. Hence, it is an excellent material for networking among agencies engaged in the same line of work, as well as for multi-sectoral collaboration.

Non-Government Organization (NGO)search for term

An organization established for a specific purpose and clientele system. Also referred to as Civil Society.

Number of Individuals (NOI)search for term

A performance indicator which measures the number of participants who attended and completed the requirements of the training course.

Online Discussion Forumssearch for term

Is a feature of the e-Extension portal where Online Trainees have the opportunity to interact with the content developers, e-Learning Coordinators, subject matter specialists, and fellow e-Learners.

Orientationsearch for term

An activity to inform a group about a new program.

Other Extension-related Activitysearch for term

Refers to an undertaking by the Institute to enhance capability other than training.

Pamphletsearch for term

At least 5 but not more than 48 pages excluding cover pages; contains information on specific topic.

Participantsearch for term

An attendee to a training/activity who is expected to participate actively in the learning process. Participants may be an extension worker, farmer, fisher, rural women, youth or representatives of rural-based organizations, local government units, government agencies, non-government agencies, state universities and colleges and people’s organizations. Also referred to as learner or trainee.

Participants are classified as:

Extension worker as defined.

Farmer - a person dependent on farming and /or exchange of agricultural products, as primary source of income. Also referred to as “producers”.

Fisher - a person directly or personally and physically engaged in fish culture and processing of fishery and/or aquatic resources. Also referred to as fisherfolk.

Rural Women - are women who are involved in agricultural and fisheries specifically residing in the countryside.

Youth - those whose age range from 15 to 30 and are engaged or interested in agriculture and fisheries.

LGU Representatives - those serving the LGU who are not EWs. These include LG officials and employees.

Rural-Based Organization - are organizations such as P4MP, RIC and 4-H Club that promote agriculture and fisheries extension in the rural areas.

SCU Representatives those from the academe.

PO Representatives - those from organizations providing welfare and development services to their individual members. These include irrigator’s association, seed grower’s association, among others.

Cooperative Representatives - thosefrom cooperatives serving farmers and fishers.

NGO Representatives - those from a non-profit organization providing welfare and development services to organizations in the agriculture and fisheries sector.

GO/National Government Agencies - those from the government agencies involved in rural development. These include employees of DA and other development agencies.

Participant Mandays (PMD)search for term

A performance indicator which measures the total number of days of attendance of the participants to training. It is expressed as the total number of days multiplied by the number of individuals (NOI).

Photonovel (komiks)search for term

A popular medium with a huge potential for carrying development-oriented messages. It is attractive because it contains a story told in both pictures and words.

Planningsearch for term

Refers to the process of creating and maintaining a plan of the Institute’s P/P/As.

Policysearch for term

A high-level definition statement indicating top-level direction, commitment or description of what is desired.

Policy Researchsearch for term

A study triggered by recurring problems for improvement or development of institutional policy in relation to its P/P/A.

Practicumsearch for term

Refers to the hands-on and practical application of learning.

Primersearch for term

A printed IEC material that introduces a program, project or activities of an agency which is in question and answer format.

Proceedingssearch for term

A printed output packaged based on the documentation of the activities of a training, workshop, conference, convention, among others.

Process Documentationsearch for term

A novel approach in participatory monitoring and evaluation; systematic and regular recording of processes adopted.

Producersearch for term

A person or organization that produces goods or services for the supply chain.

Programsearch for term

An organized set of projects oriented toward the achievement of specific objectives It is usually composed of several projects.

Programs/Projects/Activities (P/P/As ).search for term
Projectsearch for term

Refers to interrelated and coordinated activities designed to achieve certain objectives within a given budget and period of time. It is more specific in terms of actions to be undertaken.

Project Developmentsearch for term

Refers to the identification of alternative courses of actions that can meet specific needs, which culminates in the preparation of project operationalization plan.

Project Development Cyclesearch for term

Refers to the transformation process from inception to maturity of a project. It is composed of activities from initiation to operationalization of a project. It may include replanning, expansion, and other activities beyond operationalization.

Project Proposalsearch for term

A document providing the detailed information of solutions to a problem using a prescribed format and intended for resource generation.

Prototypesearch for term

Camera-ready IEC materials/publications ready for printing and reproduction.

A specific inquiry about the Agency’s P/P/As

RBO Developmentsearch for term

An intervention designed to equip and enhance the capabilities of rural-based organizations.

Recapitulationsearch for term

A brief summary of the past training activity or sessions done for the purpose of review and integration of the contents of the training. It may be done by the trainer or participant at the end of the day’s activities or at the beginning of the day’s session. Is a form of distance learning on the complete package of technology of a commodity and other agriculture and fisheries related subject matter. It is aired through the radio in a staggered basis for a period of not less than three months. It may include enhancing mechanisms or tools such as Short Messaging System (SMS), Internet, telephone, etc. A certificate is given to the enrolee after completion of the course.

Scriptsearch for term

A printed version of a radio broadcast or a video material. It includes the narration and technical directions on how the material will be produced.

A highly-participative learning activity following the whole production cycle of a commodity designed at not only improving KAS but the decision-making ability of participants.

Technology Demonstration Servicessearch for term

One of the categories of extension, showcasing a matured technology generated by research and development institutions, including those developed by scientists in partnership with farmers and fishers. It may be established/maintained within or outside the Institute’s premises.

Techno-demo established - those set-up by the Institute in a given calendar year.

Techno-demo maintained - those managed/implemented by the Institute on a continuing basis.

Techno-demo assisted - those technically supported by the Institute but implemented by other entities in a given calendar year or on a continuing basis. This includes FLE, Magsasaka Siyentista, Palaycheck, Palayamanan techno-demo, among others.

Trainingsearch for term

A need-based learning activity planned and implemented to enhance KAS and values of participants. The basic requirements of training include a training course design, directory, evaluation, and completion report.A Congress, Convention, Educational Tour, Forum, Seminar, Symposium, Technical Briefing or Work/Writeshop can be considered training if it meets the basic requirements.

There are three classifications of trainings. These are:

Training Conducted - those implemented and fully funded by ATI.

Training Tie-Up - those implemented by ATI under a resource sharing scheme with other agencies. Formerly termed as Training-Assisted/Managed/ Supervised.

Training Funded - those implemented by an organization but funds managed and supervised by ATI.

The conduct of training may either be live-in orlive-out, on-site or center-based:

Live-In training - those implemented in a venue where participants are required to stay during the whole duration of the activity.

Live-Out training - those implemented in a venue where participants are allowed/required to go home after the day’s session.

On-site - field-based training, either live-in or live-out.

Center-based - those implemented at the Training Center.

A document containing the title of training programs, target date and venue, and prospective participants for a specific period of time.

Refers to the total expenses incurred in the conduct of training.Cost/NOI - total expenses incurred for a participant in training.

Training Management Team (TMT)search for term

A group of personnel who work together from planning, implementation, and evaluation of the learning activities and to ensure the smooth conduct of the activity. Also referred to as Task Force.The TMT is composed of the following:

Project Officer - the designated person who plans and leads the activity.

Officer-of-the-Day – a member of the team assigned to oversee the day’s activity.

Training of Trainers (TOT)search for term

A learning activity where participants are taught on what to teach and how to teach. It aims to have a multiplier effect since it is expected that they will conduct the same training activity among their customers/stakeholders. Also referred to as Trainers’ Training. Examples are Rice Specialist Training Course, Corn Specialist Training Course, Resource Person Development Course.

Training Phasesearch for term

Refers to the 3 stages of a training– preparatory, during, and post-training.

Pre-Training are activities at the preparatory phase prior to the conduct of the actual training. This includes training needs determination, training course design preparation, identification/selection and invitation of participants and resource persons, and other administrative arrangements.

During Training is the actual conduct of the training program where a participant will acquire new capabilities through interactive activities, discipline and facilitation. It ends with closing activities.

Post-Training activities conducted after a certain period of time since the conduct of the training. Also known as the follow-up phase

A document describing a planned undertaking or learning intervention to address a training need, submitted for approval and allocation of appropriate resources for implementation.

One of the categories of extension that refers to the provision of appropriate interventions, methodologies, and techniques that can upgrade the KAS and orientation of the stakeholder. It may cover a wide range of topics along the value chain such as production technologies, as well as social technologies depending on the needs of the target clientele group or their relevance to the development requirements of a specific target area.

Refers to the process from seed to shelf or from the producers to the consumers, showing activities and interventions of/for a chosen commodity/ies based on understanding the need for such intervention.

A short video presentation produced by the Institute for educational and promotional purposes. This usually runs fro 3 to 5 minutes. It includes the production of MTV for training purposes.

Video Productionsearch for term

A detailed information material in video form used for education and promotion purposes. Its development is guided by a video production plan and a script.

Video Production Plansearch for term

A systematic presentation of the details of the video material to be produced. It contains the synopsis, storyline, resources needed, among others.

Are supporting materials seen by the group and help the trainer in putting across his topic.

Walk-in Clientssearch for term

Individuals or groups that pay a visit to the Agency purposely to seek for advice or inquire about the Institute’s P/P/As or anything related to its function (e.g. technologies).

A schematic representation of P/P/As and the corresponding physical and financial requirements, and fund source for a given period of time.Financial Target - the amount allocated for every P/P/As for a given period of time.

Physical Target - the quantitative/numerical output(s) or deliverables of a given P/P/A.

Source of Fund - a provider of financial requirements; refers to entity(s) (e.g. agency, institution, private individuals). In the DBM Work and Financial Plan format,"Source of Fund"would mean General Fund, Trust Fund, Revolving Fund, etc.
