MANILA, Philippines – The farm tourism industry was the focus of this year’s celebration of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ (ASEAN) Farmers’ Week which gathered farmer-leaders and agricultural extension officials from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam in a training spearheaded by the Agricultural Training Institute. The participants expressed their appreciation to the Philippines in light of the experiences and knowledge they gained in the lectures and farm visits. The ASEAN Farmers’ Week was held last November 8 to 14, 2015 in cooperation with the ASEAN Sectoral Working Group on Agricultural Training and Extension. (Photos by Christian Jocef Bautista Austria)

The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) production team for the Telemagazine on Organic Agriculture recently visited and documented the organic farming technologies and principles as well the farms of Mr. Ursulo dela Peña in Capoocan, Mr. Olegario Paredes, Jr. in Ormoc, Mr. Sandy Matunog in Hinundayan last June 22-26, 2015 in Leyte and Southern Leyte, respectively.

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) as the lead implementing agency for e-Extension Program conducted a workshop on courseware tweaking. The workshop intended to enhance current courseware by updating the content and revising sections to conform to the updated instructional design standards set by ATI for e-learning courses.

MARAMAG, Bukidnon – The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center in Northern Mindanao (ATI-RTC) 10 conducted a mass graduation for School-on-the-Air (SOA) on Good Agricultural Practice for Corn Production. The graduation was held last May 22, 2015 in Central Mindanao University, Maramag, Bukidnon.

PANGANTUCAN, Bukidnon – The Agricultural Training Institute together with the local government of Pangantucan launched the 9th Farmers’ Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center in the province of Bukidnon. Pangantucan is a first class municipality and its FITS center’s focus commodity is rice.
