Furthering the advocacy of organic agriculture (OA) in the Philippines, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) held its 5th Bloggers' Event last May 23 to 26, 2016 in five OA farms and learning sites in Cagayan de Oro and Bukidnon.

As part of its commitment to continuously support the agriculture sector in the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) region, the Government of Japan, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, made possible the Training Course on Mechanization and Postharvest Technology for High Value Crops for Southeast Asian farmers and agricultural extension workers.

TANGUB CITY, Misamis Occidental – During the second training course on success story writing and packaging, some 34 staff of the Agricultural Training Institute’s (ATI) Network of Training Centers and its Central Office took the opportunity to learn how to become effective storytellers.

DILIMAN, Quezon City – With hopes of enabling some young farmers to be instruments of change in improving the agricultural system in the Philippines, First Secretary in Agriculture Kenji Terada of the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, together with the Japan Agricultural Exchange Council Local Coordinator Waki Sasago, the Agricultural Training Institute’s Director Asterio Saliot and Deputy Director Renato Dela Cruz led the sendoff activity for the trainees under the Young Filipino Farmers’ Training Program (YFFTPJ). This is the last leg of the 75-day Pre-departure Orientation Course (PDOC) for the 20 young farmers before heading to Japan for the 11-month hands-on course in pre-identified local farms.
