Sending off the 20: Culmination Activity of the 75-day Pre-departure Orientation Course
DILIMAN, Quezon City – With hopes of enabling some young farmers to be instruments of change in improving the agricultural system in the Philippines, First Secretary in Agriculture Kenji Terada of the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, together with the Japan Agricultural Exchange Council Local Coordinator Waki Sasago, the Agricultural Training Institute’s Director Asterio Saliot and Deputy Director Renato Dela Cruz led the sendoff activity for the trainees under the Young Filipino Farmers’ Training Program (YFFTPJ). This is the last leg of the 75-day Pre-departure Orientation Course (PDOC) for the 20 young farmers before heading to Japan for the 11-month hands-on course in pre-identified local farms.
The culmination activity was conducted last April 8, 2016 at the Rural Development Education Center (RDEC) in ATI Central Office. The YFTTPJ’s trainees flew to Japan last April 13, 2016 and will return in the country by March 2017 for a five-day Post Training and Evaluation prior to applying their learnings in their respective farms and communities.
