- About Us
Nowadays, young people prefer courses that will give them greater and faster economic opportunities after college than taking up agriculture. In this line, the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), together with the Department of Education’s Bureau of Secondary Schools and the CGIAR’s Climate Change, Agriculture, and Food Security research program, initiated the “Infomediary Campaign in the Philippines” with the primary aim of engaging more youth in agriculture.
If you wish to expand your knowledge on agriculture or its related field, there are local and international publications available at the Agricutlural Training Institute's Agriculture and Fisheries Knowledge Resource Center like the Asian Biotechnology and Development Review (ABDR). This is a peer reviewed international journal that covers topics on socio-economic development, public policy, ethical and regulatory aspects of biotechnology that focuses on developing countries.
Finding means to feed the fast growing population in Southeast Asia is one of the challenges that the region faces. Moreso, there is a great need for the aquaculture sector to produce more food fish that could feed these nations. Hence, in this line, the Aquaculture Department of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center or SEAFDEC came up with a book titled: Sustainable Aquaculture Development for Food Security in Southeast Asia Towards 2020.
The Master in Public Management major in Rural Development (MPM-RD) is an 18-month scholarship program that seeks to foster the rural development initiatives in the Philippines. The program scholars are permanent employees from three major rural development-oriented government agencies namely: Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and Department of Agriculture (DA). Scholars are purposefully selected to stand as informed development managers who will help in decision-making for an efficient implementation of countryside development.
