ATI-RTC X Director Angelito Quirog, Commander Esmael Sarif, Director Asterio P. Saliot listening to Commander Agila's sentiments

Talk, share, and pledge of commitment – these and more exchange of thoughts on conquering hunger to sustain peace is the primary purpose of gathering the previous MILF commanders, Philippine Army, national police, and people from the different agencies; Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Department of Agriculture (DA), and Local Government Unit (LGU) of Kauswagan.

The way to establishing constant peace in conflict areas is through addressing hunger and providing livelihood to the grassroots. It is in this advocacy that ATI’s intervention on From Arms to Farms was crafted. ATI Director Asterio P. Saliot and ATi-RTC 10 Center Director Angelito Quirog’s pursuit in helping particularly the rebel returnees is partnered by the Local Government of Kauswagan spearheaded by Mayor Rommel Arnado. This initiative cuts both the Christian and Muslim community embracing an equal distribution of projects and resources in the area.  What was given and will be given in the coastal areas will also be the same with those in the mountains.

The assembly intended to collect ways on how ATI will be of greater service and to know the needed efforts in addressing necessities of the rebel commanders turned farmers. Also, the dialogue aimed to share the developments achieved by each commanders assisted by ATI in their respective farms. The venue did not just inspire the commanders that came back to the fold but paved way for the still active rebels to grasp information of the program’s sincerity in helping rebels who are willing to be back on the mainstream. It is for the commanders whether active or not to see what has been done in the diversified farms of MILF leaders who sought the Institute’s assistance.
