Farmers Recognized During the 2015 National Corn Congress

"Moving Forward Enhancing Competitiveness: Philippine Corn Towards ASEAN Integration” was the theme for the 11th Philippine National Corn Congress which highlighted the 3rd National Quality Corn Achievers Award.

Corn farmers from all over the different regions in the country were given due recognition through the awards they rightly deserve.

Aspiring Inclusivity through Open Space Conversations - Director Asterio Saliot of the Agricultural Training Institute shared the story of ATI's "From Arms to Farms: Fostering Peace through Agriculture and Fishery Development in Conflict Areas" during the 2nd ASIAN Appreciative Inquiry (AI) Summit.

With him were Secretary Herminio Coloma of the Presidential Communications Operations, Office of the President and Carl Balita, multi-awarded entrepreneur and bestseller author who shared on governance and entrepreneurship, respectively.

4th Barangay Agricultural Workers' Congress held in Caraga

The open blue sea, fine white sugar-like sand in the beaches, and well-preserved rivers and falls are just a few in the list of frequently visited places in CARAGA. On the way to see these picturesque views are the wide farm lands which abundantly supplies food in the whole region and its neighboring towns.

Without doubt, the main source of livelihood in Region XIII is agriculture. Thus, the increase in the number of empowered farmers or Barangay Agricultural Workers (BAW) is not a surprise. The region started having 30 BAW members from 2007 which grew every year.

DAVAO, Philippines -- Inquisitiveness and the desire to discover and make adventures - these pushed the rise of two innovations of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) of the Department of Agriculture. Under the dynamic leadership of ATI Director Asterio P. Saliot, the ATI-ACES Mobile Training Center (MTC) and ATIng Organikong Kainan (ATI-OK) were made possible with ACES Natural Farm Institute as the ATI’s accredited Extension Service Provider (ESP). ACES is headed by its equally enthusiastic CEO Dr. Francisco Dela Pena, Jr.
