LS Cooperators’ Skills Training: A Success
There were forty (40) participants comprising Learning Site (LS) Cooperators and other interested farmers in Caraga who joined in the 3-day training on Facilitation Skills and Assessment of Learning Sites.
Said training aimed to let Learning Site owners or cooperators conduct and facilitate series of training, orientation, briefings and actual demonstrations to those who visit in their respective farms. Basically, it aims to discuss facilitation and communication skills, demonstrate skills in presentation and facilitation, present a brief report about the updates of his/her Learning Site.
Together with TCS II Robert T. Poculan Jr. and the rest of ATI-Caraga staff, participants were able to visit and have a courtesty call with Mayor Libertad O. Alameda in San Agustin, Surigao del Sur. “We are so thankful for choosing San Agustin as the venue for your training”, Alameda said as she introduces the tourist spots in the municipality.
On the other hand, Municipal Agriculturist Genalyn Campos apprised the group on the history of the municipality in terms of farming advocating organic agriculture.
Right after, participants proceeded to Alameda Farm as the training venue. Representative from Alameda Farm welcomed participants with video presentation about their farm. There also the surprise visit of Mr. Geo Fortun, Regional Coordinator of Villar SIPAG Foundation from the office of Sen. Cynthia Villar with some information.

Topics on Farm Tourism, Facilitation and Effective Communication Skills were thoroughly discussed by the speakers from ATI-Caraga with shared ideas from diverse participants which is from plain farmers to experts as the composition of the LS cooperators.
On the second day, all participants traversed the hilly farm of Mr. Alameda at the same time enjoying the sunrise to plant mango tree during the tree planting session at 6 o’clock in the morning. The warmth of the sun marks the energetic and positive aura of all participants therein.
It is quite fulfilling in the part of the facilitators to maintain the smooth flow of communication as well as the relationship among participants no matter what level and status of living they are in.
