Villar SIPAG: Empowering the Filipino People
Bacoor City, Cavite – The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) IV-A in partnership with Villar SIPAG (Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance) Foundation formally opened the Training of Facilitators on Farm Business School (FBS). The ten-day training aims to alleviate poverty by empowering agriculture through the efforts of different public and private sectors.
Some 31 public and private sectors including farmer leaders, farm owners, agricultural extension workers and agricultural technologists from CalaBaRZon region attended the commencement program. Senator Cynthia A. Villar, Chairperson on Committee on Agriculture and Food and Managing Director of Villar SIPAG Foundation, alongside Ms. Marites P. Cosico, Training Center Superintendent II of ATI IV-A and Ms. Dalangin Ceferina S. Parel, Agrarian Reform Program Officer preside the ceremony. “Let us focus sa ating mga kapwa farmer na walang kakayahang mag pondo. Here in FBS we teach our farmer na ang puhunan natin ay sipag at hindi puro pera. Hindi lang ito basta training, they include farm visits sa mga successful farms para matututo kayo kung paano talaga mag-manage ng isang successful farm. Ang gusto ko talaga ay magkaroon ng Farm School ang bawat town sa Pilipinas, para wala nang dahilan ang ating mga farmers na hindi makapag aral sa isang Farm School. Naniniwala ako na to alleviate poverty we have to improve agriculture”, expressed by Senator Villar.
The Training of Facilitators on FBS includes discussion on marketing, record keeping and climate change: the new normal climate. Moreover, hands-on activities on benchmarking and market survey are also tapped in the training duration.
The opening program of the ten-day Training of Facilitators on FBS was held on March 13, 2017 in Villar SIPAG Farm, Brgy. San Narciso Uno, Bacoor City, Cavite. The graduation rite will be on March 24, 2017, the last day of the training.
