MAISkwelahan Pave Way for its First TeleRadyo Broadcast
Tagkawayan, Quezon – To maximize a wider range of audience through distance learning, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) CaLaBaRZon in close collaboration with the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist – Tagkawayan, Quezon, aired its 1st live School-on-the-Air (SOA) teleradyo program dubbed as “MAISkwelahan Tungo sa Kaunlaran: Isang TeleRadyo sa Pagmamaisan on June 2, 2017.
 
SOA is one of ATI’s distance learning extension modalities which presents a subject matter systematically arranged and in progressive manner through series of radio programs. This year, MAISkwelahan teleradyo will broadcast lessons mainly on corn production – seed selection, land preparation, planting, pest management, storage, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), soil testing, corn mechanization and processing.
 
During the 1st MAISkwelahan teleradyo program, two lessons were discussed by invited radio teachers from ATI CaLaBaRZon. First lesson focused on the Mechanics of Radyo Eskwela, while the second lesson was all about the services and programs offered by ATI. Dr. Rolando V. Maningas, Information Services Section Chief of ATI CaLaBaRZon and Ms. Mariel Celeste C. Dayanghirang, Assistant Center Director of ATI CaLaBaRZon served as the radio teachers, respectively. Students of the teleradyo program are welcomed to relay their questions and clarifications relative to the topic through the text hotline 09055131772. MAISang tanong or question of the day is also part of the program. A question will be asked every end of the program based on the lectures tackled. First sender to text the answer correctly will receive 100 pesos worth of cellphone load.
 
MAISkwelahan teleradyo is also in partnership with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist – Quezon and Office of the Municipal Agriculturist – Guinayangan, Quezon. A series of teleradyo broadcasts for the MAISkwelahan will be aired from June 2, 2017 until September of this year. It will be aired every Friday from 5:00 am to 6:00 am through Agri Tagkawayan TeleRadyo 101.7 FM and Channel 9. The program is hosted by DJ Red Devilla, Program Manager of the said station and Ms. Jamila Monette Balmeo, Information Officer II of ATI CaLaBaRZon.
