ATI IV-A builds up on Organic Agriculture and sustainable Farm Tourism

Silang, Cavite - Capability building for agricultural extension workers (AEWs) and partners, is among the initiatives being continuously provided by the Agricultural Training Institute – Region IV-A to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of Organic Agriculture program.  These activities are based on science and emerging trends on agriculture production system particularly on OA, taking into account profitability through farm value adding services.  

In lieu of this, the Center conducted the first batch of Training on Organic Agriculture Updates for Agricultural Extension Workers of Cavite, Laguna and Batangas.  The activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and technical capability of agricultural extension workers on Organic Agriculture and related technologies such as Agritechture and Sustainable Farm Tourism.    

Various topics on Integrated Diversified Organic Farming Systems (IDOFS), Philippine National Standards on Organic Agriculture (PNS on OA), Agritechture and Sustainable Farm Tourism comprised the lectures. Meanwhile, hands-on activities included preparation of different concoctions that conform to standards stipulated at PNS on OA. The participants also developed their action plan and had drawn their commitment in incorporating their learning in their extension activities Farmers Field Schools, farmers’ meetings and the like.  
 
A total of 25 energetic, dedicated and vibrant agricultural extension workers from Cavite, Batangas and Laguna took part of the activity which was held on May 15-17, 2017 at Teofely Nature Farms, Inc. at Brgy. Lumil, Silang, Cavite.
