New Year Wishes

It’s that time of the year again when hopes are high. Or is it?

Eleven days into 2013 (the euphoria of the holiday season presumably gone), I asked a few co-workers about their New Year Wishes. Here are responses I got:

“Contentment, happiness, love, joy, good health.”

“Financial abundance.”

“More work… and just reward for work done.”

And, on a more serious note, one said better prospects with the looming rationalization of ATI.

Well, new is a word that is rarely redundant. Prefix it to another word, and it generates peculiar emotions:

New car, new house, new love…

New job, new dog, new contract…

New tests, new signs…

New challenges, new battle, new game…

Whatever state of mind or road you are in, this I pray and intend for you and me: may every day bring renewed energy to begin, journey on, and follow your bliss.
