Adapting Collaborative Approach to Development

PASIG CITY – Committing to provide support for the Department of Education (DepEd) in the effective implementation of the K to 12 basic education program, the Department of Agriculture (DA) thru Dr. Luz Taposok of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), together with various NGAs recently attended a convergence meeting concerning DepEd's Senior High School Work Immersion Program.

Agenda of the said meeting include the presentation and finalization of the Proposed Comprehensive Education Agreement Adjournment, discussion on the priorities and strategic directions of DepEd in relation to the program and the partnership requirement for the delivery of basic education.

DepEd Undersecretary Tonisito M.C. Umali encouraged the NGAs to maximize their time in the meeting and talk about possible projects they can offer and build for the Filipinos especially to the students.

Other involved agencies were the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of National Defense (DND), Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Finance (DOF), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Justice (DOJ), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Transportation (DOTr), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

Cooperation among key public sectors is necessary to the implementation of various policies and programs for development. The ATI has been collaborating with both the public and private sector to ensure an effective and efficient agriculture and fishery extension delivery, as well as other sustainable development projects.

The NGA Convergence meeting was held last November 6, 2017 at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan, DepEd Complex.
