SM Downtown, Metro Cagayan De Oro---For its second session for the year, AgriTalk 2019 kicked off at the SM Downtown Premier, Cagayan de Oro City on May 24.
More than 700 farmers and agripreneurs were present at the venue to grab the opportunity to learn about three specific topics, namely Square foot Gardening, Beekeeping and Mushroom Production from experienced lecturers.
The Agricultural Training Institute in Central Luzon (ATI-CL) educated farmers and fishers from different provinces of Central Luzon in two batches of Training on Financial Literacy held at ATI-RTC III, San Ramon, Dinalupihan, Bataan on May 8-10, 2019 and May 15-17, 2019, respectively.
SAN JUAN, Batangas – In its continued effort toenhance the knowledge and skills of AEWs on organic certification, the Agricultural Training InstituteRegion IV-A conducted the “Training on Organic Production and Certification at Don Leon Nature Farm in this municipality.
“It was my first time attending a training outside my province.” This was the confession of Engr. Jostine Marie F. Famudulan, Agricultural Technologist of LGU-San Andres during the Training Course on Rice Grain Drying and Milling Principles and Systems on May 22 – 24, 2019 at ATI, Barcenaga, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.
Parang, Maguindanao- Thirty persons with disabilities have graduated from the Season-Long Training on Farmer’s Poultry School on Free-Range Chicken Production last May 24, 2019 in Barangay Nituan, Parang, Maguindanao.
CANTILAN, Surigao del Sur – The Regional Technical Working Committee (RTWC) of the Techno Gabay Program (TGP) evaluated the proposed Farmers’ Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center in Cantilan, Surigao del Sur on May 21, 2019.
TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur- With an aim of intensifying the promotion of cacao production in Surigao del Sur, the School-on-the-Air (SOA) program was finally launched by the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 on May 23, 2019. The launching/first airing of the SOA program was hosted by Fritzieh C.
LAKE SEBU – Regally rested on one of the crests of Lake Sebu highlands is Sebul Farm, a learning site of the Agricultural Training Institute 12 that yields an abundant array of organic crops, flocks, and fish.
LIBJO, Province of Dinagat Islands – Twenty-seven 4-H/RBO coordinators and members participated in the Capability Enhancement for 4-H/RBO Coordinators conducted by the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center 13 (ATI-Caraga) last May 21-24, 2019 at the Punta Buena Swerte Resort.
First introduced last 2018, the 2nd batch of Back to Basic: Scientific and Sustainable Livestock and Poultry Production program was again launched on May 22, 2019 at ATI, Barcenaga, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.
Edible landscaping has gained in popularity because people gained more appreciation for “beautiful food” by growing crops creatively and innovatively.
With its theme “Combining Beauty with Bounty”, the Gender-Based Training on Edible Landcaping was attended with 25 farmers and Agricultural Extension Workers in Odiongan, Romblon.

PIGCAWAYAN, Cotabato - As of 2019, gardens in the school are already widespread in the country. It is an endeavour that the Department of Agriculture spearheaded to slowly encourage students to love agriculture. Thru these gardens, they can produce their own crops and not be reliant to those that are sold in the local market.
MAGUINDANAO – In lieu with the advances of the Japan International Cooperation Agency- Livelihood Improvement for the Transformation of Underserved Population (JICA-LIFT UP), a total of 480 farmer-beneficiaries hailing from four municipalities in Maguindanao have been awarded rudimentary agricultural inputs for them to utilize in their respective farms.
Baybay City, Leyte – One fine day in May, beautiful flower arrangements adorned Hall A of ATI RTC 8. Participants hunched over tables filled with dyed corn husks busy making different types of flowers. Corn husks, which are often considered waste after harvest, are actually potential money makers.
The Agricultural Training Institute was featured during the Talakayan with the Media of Cagayan de Oro City on March 22, 2019. Talakayan is a Media Forum initiated by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA 10) in partnership with SM Group. The activity was held at the Events Center of SM Downtown Premier in Cagayan de Oro City.
SERGIO OSMEÑA, Zamboanga del Norte – With the aim to give opportunities to the unschool youths in the rural areas of Zamboanga Peninsula, the Center of Ecology and Organic Farming Inc. (CEOFI) opened and launched their Family Farm School last May 17, 2019, at Brgy. Biayon, Sergio Osmeña, Zamboanga del Norte.
One of the youngest groups of agripreneurs venturing in mushroom production, the Portal 4-H Club in Rizal, Nueva Ecija sells fresh mushroom in their community. The club started producing mushrooms on March 6, 2019 and now they are able to earn consistently.
PAGADIAN CITY – 17 Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) owners/cooperators, out of the 20 new certified LSA, attended the simultaneous signing of Memorandum of Agreement and awarding of certificate of LSA. Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) is a farm practicing applicable agricultural technologies, employing doable farming strategies and operating successfully.
SAN AGUSTIN, Surigao del Sur- The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI –RTC) 13 facilitated the conduct of a three-day training on Organic Agriculture Production Technologies at Alameda Farm, Gata, San Agustin, Surigao del Sur on May 8-10, 2019.
Extension services continue to evolve. With the challenges that extension workers and farmers face, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) continues to explore various strategies to improve its efforts as the extension and training arm of the Department of Agriculture. In over 30 years, the ATI has celebrated various successes and learned from the lessons during hard times. Nonetheless, we are proud to be standing the test of time through the support of our partners and the clientele themselves.
