Santa Barbara, Pangasinan – The Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center I (ATI-RTC I) conducted a five-day Training on Extension Project Documentation and Packaging for AgRiDOCs (Agricultural Development Officer of the Community) on March 25-29, 2019. This training was participated by 30 AgRIDOC graduates.
BINGAWAN, Iloilo - The Philippines is prone to calamities, weather disturbances, and disaster risks thus it is important to enhance farmers’ knowledge, attitude, and skills on climate-resilient technologies along with the provision of livelihood support. This can be done through the use of various participatory tools to inspire farmer’s ownership of livelihood interventions.
The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), spearheaded by the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), conducted the workshop on Writing and Communication Skills-batch 1 on March 19-21, 2019 at ATI Central Office, Quezon City. A total of 30 participants composed of the technical and administrative staff from different regional centers attended the train6ing.
To enhance the capacity of agricultural extension workers / agricultural technologists, and farmers on farm management as a business and knowledge on how to manage climate change risks, a Training of Trainers on Climate Resilient Farm Business School (CRFBS) was conducted on March 11-21, 2019 at ATI – RTC 02, Malasin, Isabela.
Agricultural extension workers across Central Luzon took part in the Training of Trainers on Sustainable Vegetable Production in the Agricultural Training Institute-Central Luzon (ATI-CL) Satellite Center, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija on March 26-28, 2019.

TANTANGAN, South Cotabato - For the past several years, the local and international demand for cocoa products and the world prices have been constantly favorable. This scenario created an increasing interest among local farmers to go into cocoa production mainly due to the seemingly bright potential of the said crop.
Corn remains an important commodity here and abroad. Here in the Philippines, corn is an important livestock feed and a staple food as well, especially in Bisayan-speaking areas. Many Asian countries, the Philippines included, have been exerting effort to supply their farmers with cheap but quality seeds since hybrid seeds commands a higher price.
ATI REGION 6, BANGA, Aklan - Dr. Eden DLR. Bautista, as the Center Director of Agricultural Training Institute in Region 6, leads with passion and dedication. DILIMAN, Quezon City – Communication is said to be the heart of every organization. The ability to communicate accurately and clearly is a vital skill that employees must possess. Answering to this need, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) recently conducted the Writing and Communication Workshop - Batch 1 on March 19 – 21, 2019 at the Rural Development Education Center, ATI Compound.
SAN MIGUEL – To build a strong partnership and promote the programs and services of the Agricultural Training Institute, the center joined the first ever Farmers Congress in San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur.
Kananga, Leyte - The Department of Agriculture through PhilRice has been promoting a diversified integrated rice-based farming system directed towards farm diversification that would increase farm productivity and profitability aimed to address food security and the economic stability of farm families.
Forty-nine (49) farmers of the municipality of Sto. Nino, South Cotabato underwent a 2-day Financial Literacy Training last March 26-27, 2019. The attendees were all recipient of the Production Loan Easy Access (PLEA) of the Department of Agriculture (DA).
One way to achieve food sufficiency is the promotion of eating white flint corn as alternative to rice. Aside from its contribution as additional staple food, it is a healthier staple.

The Learning Site (LS) and School for Practical Agriculture (SPA) co-operators gathered for their 1st Quarterly Meeting this year to further strengthen camaraderie towards progressive development of accredited farm sites in Davao Region.
BUTUAN CITY – A total of thirty-one (31) farmers identified by the City Agriculture Office of Butuan were trained on “Climate Resilient Agriculture: A New Paradigm in Farming” on March 18-20, 2019.
Said activity was the result of the first training module specialized in climate change adaptation developed by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI).
TANTANGAN, South Cotabato - In recent years, the local demand for raw rubber goes up steadily although the price is unstable and fluctuating. Despite all these, rubber farmers remain hopeful as they anticipate, sooner or later, an increase in domestic and global demand for natural rubber. For now, they consider it an opportune time to strengthen the industry.
Extension services continue to evolve. With the challenges that extension workers and farmers face, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) continues to explore various strategies to improve its efforts as the extension and training arm of the Department of Agriculture. In over 30 years, the ATI has celebrated various successes and learned from the lessons during hard times. Nonetheless, we are proud to be standing the test of time through the support of our partners and the clientele themselves.
