BONTOC, MT. PROVINCE. The Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC), through its Research Development and Extension Services, staged its “First Knowledge Products for Extension Launching” on February 12, 2020 at the MPSPC Main Campus in Bontoc, Mt. Province. The knowledge products (KP) are outputs of the MPSPC’s extension group after undergoing four ATI-CAR funded trainings.

Gregorio paralleled the needed convergence and partnership of stakeholders in addressing the impacts of climate change in agriculture. Director Gregorio heads the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA). He is the keynote speaker during the 33rd anniversary celebration of the Agriculture Training Institute-Cordillera Administrative Region at the Hotel Supreme in Baguio City on January 30, 2020.
LUNA, APAYAO. Twenty-two farmers are to advance to the Phase III of the National Corn-based Farmer-Scientists RDE Training Program (FSTP). These farmers were confirmed as graduates during the FSTP Phase II graduation ceremony on December 4, 2019 at San Francisco, Luna, Apayao. The FSTP is a three-phase program that aims to empower farmers by teaching them comprehensive knowledge in agriculture, developing their social and organizational skills, and shaping them to serve as agricultural extension workers in their own communities.
LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET. Consistent with their partnership commitments the Agricultural Training Institute-Cordillera Administrative Region (ATI-CAR) and the Cordillera Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Research and Development (CorCAARRD) held the fourth Joint Farmers’ Technology Forum with 57 participants. The forum held on November 21, 2019 at the Everlasting Hall, BSU R&E Building has been jointly implemented by the ATI-CAR and CorCAARRD since 2016.
TABUK CITY, KALINGA. Doubts and fears on the effects of Republic Act Number 11203 did not prevent farmers from the major rice producing municipalities of Kalinga to attend the information caravan on the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF). The RCEF is a creation of RA 11203 or the Rice Tariffication Law intended to further develop farm productivity and profitability among rice farmers in the Philippines.
BONTOC, MT. PROVINCE. Mountain Province produced 80 graduates of the Farmers’ Poultry School (FPS) on Free Range Chicken (FRC) implemented in the municipalities of Bauko, Bontoc and Barlig. Bauko held its FPS at barangay Otucan Sur from April 23, 2019 to September 13, 2019 with 26 graduates. The FPS for Bontoc was implemented at Barangay Talubin from April 30, 2019 to October 15, 2019 yielding 24 graduates. Barlig produced 30 graduates from the FPS held at Barangay Ogo-og from May 16, 2019 to October 16, 2019.
TABUK CITY, KALINGA. The sudden outbreaks of rice pests and disease, and the development and emergence of new rice pest and diseases has been challenging both farmers and agricultural extension workers (AEW) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). Consequently, both new and seasoned AEW listed the training on rice pest and diseases as one of their suggested trainings at the Agricultural Training Institute-CAR (ATI-CAR).
In response to issues arising from the implementation of RA 11203 or the Rice Tarrification Law, rice industry stakeholders from the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) gathered on September 25-26, 2019 at Tabuk City, Kalinga to discuss measures to such concerns. The meeting was organized by the Agricultural Training Institute-CAR (ATI-CAR) in coordination with its partner government agencies and farmer groups.
LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET. The DA’s Back to Basic Advocacy Seminar is back for its second year in Benguet. This year’s seminar is dubbed as the Malawakang Pagbibigay-kaalaman sa Agrikultura: Magsasakang may Alam, Laging Angat, Sagana sa Kita or the MAPAGMALASAKIT program. Responding to the invitation, 593 stakeholders dominated by farmers from Benguet attended the seminar. The stakeholders converged at the Benguet State University Gym, La Trinidad, Benguet on July 26, 2019 for the activity.
LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET. The ATI CAR recognizes the local government unit agricultural extension workers (LGU AEWs) as important partners in extending quality services at the grassroots level. Conducted annually, the Trainers’ Assembly aims to continuously upgrade the ATI-trained LGU trainers as implementers of training and extension in the localities as well as to recognize the top performing trainers.
