PAGADIAN CITY – The month of July was the schedule of the turn-over of ICT equipment to the 10 selected Farmers Information and Technology Services (FITS) Centers in Region 9.
The main objective of this enhancement is to increase the number of farmers who are using Rice Crop Manager (RCM). This will now enhance the services and capabilities of FITS Centers through the integration of Rice Cop Manager.
With the turn-over of gadgets there is also a corresponding responsibility for the LGUs. The FITS Centers are expected to institutionalize RCM deployment as one of their services and ensure that the FITS Center is accessible during office hours to farmer visitors requesting RCM and e-Extension related services.
The selection of the FITS Centers was based on the following criteria: the center must be active and operational, it must belong to rice growing municipality and with committed staff that already completed the Regional Training of Trainers on RCM Use and Operation. Among the 22 centers, the selected 10 FITS are Sindangan, Ramon Magsaysay, Tukuran, Zamboanga City–Main, Vitali, Ayala, Kumalarang, Molave, San Miguel and OPAG-Pagadian.
The turn-over ceremony was conducted in the respective FITS Centers. Followed by the discussion of the guidelines and agreement. Finally, all activities ended with the signing of the letter of agreement by the ATI 9 together with the LGU’s Municipal Agriculturists and FITS Managers.
