2019 FITS Center enhancement for RCM

Orientation on the duties of Enhanced FITS Center at FITS Center Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay together with the Municipal Agriculturist, Mr. Edgar R. Apao.

ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA - To increase the number of farmers who are using Rice Crop Manager (RCM), the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center IX (ATI-RTC IX), as the lead agency in implementing extension services of the Department of Agriculture, provide access through enhancing FITS Center for RCM. FITS Center enhanced on RCM are expected to institutionalize RCM deployment as one of their services and generate a minimum of 100 recommendations per season.

In Zamboanga Peninsula, there were two (2) Farmers Information Technology Services (FITS) Centers were enhanced for this year, FITS Center Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay and FITS Center Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur. The said centers were enhanced last May 31, 2019 and June 20, 2019 respectively. These FITS centers were selected being operational and active, a rice growing municipality and with committed manpower.

Part of the enhancement was an orientation to the FITS staff and signing of the Letter of Agreement for a smooth implementation of the project. Moreover, the highlight of the activity was the turnover of ICT equipment and supplies.
Out of 26 FITS center in the region, a total of 15 FITS centers were enhanced for RCM since 2017.
