PAGADIAN CITY- To acquaint corn and cassava regional coordinators for CY 2019 revised National Quality Corn Achievers Award (NQCAA), Cassava Cluster Management Award (CCMEA) and CORNUCOPIA Guidelines, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture conducted a Zonal Briefing for Mindanao A cluster.
The activity was intended to discuss and update the corn and cassava coordinators for the 2019 revised NQCAA, CCMEA and CORNUCOPIA guidelines. Further, to solicit their opinions for any changes or addition of content in the guidelines and for them also to disseminate the information to the Local Government Units (LGUs).
During the opening program Engr. Renato B. Dela Cruz – Partnership and Accreditation Division Chief of ATI Central Office delivered his inspirational message. He highlighted that, “Let us think that these awards are being done to motivate further our corn and cassava farmers to contribute to the overall development of agriculture particularly food security. We will motivate our corn and cassava farmers to engage corn and cassava and further make them an enterprise or entrepreneurs.”
Dr. Candido B. Damo, team leader for Mindanao A cluster, presented and discussed the CORNUCOPIA and NQCAA Guidelines and Dr. Andrea Inocencio from Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) for the CCMEA. Dr. Damo emphasized that the purpose of the three (3) awards is to promote corn and cassava industry.
Mindanao A Cluster briefing was held last April 24-26, 2019 at Mardale Hotel, Pagadian City. The activity was participated by corn and cassava coordinators from Regions 9, 12 and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) with a total of nine (9) participants. (Marissa P. Paredes)
