With the aim to equip the ATI Nueve employees with the different features, innovations and best practices of the Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA), ATI Nueve had three (3) batches of LSA Benchmarking and Learning Journey conducted in Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro City, and Iligan City.
The LSA is a farm practicing applicable agricultural technologies, employing doable farming strategies and operating successfully, thus, worthy of emulation. The LSA will serve as a model or an example to showcase applicable agriculture technologies and agri-products/by-products processing technologies. In this way, they are seen to help improve the capabilities of small farmers and other rural community members.
With this, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) continues to expand partnerships to advance excellence in agriculture and fisheries extension. The ATI supports the establishment of Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA). ATI taps rural farms to serve as Learning Sites (LS) for knowledge sharing opportunities for farmers and would-be farmers.
At present, there are more than 300 LSAs all over the Philippines. However, in region 9, we only have a total of 26 LSAs. The activity was conducted in order to strengthen and be able to establish more LSAs in the region.
The 3 batches followed one itinerary that includes visiting Jaya Secret Garden, Binahon Agro-Forestry Farm (BAFF), Umanika Eco-Cultural Farm, EMV Diversified Farm and Alomah’s Place in Bukidnon, Cervantes Square Foot Urban Gardening in Cagayan de Oro City, Balay sa Hardin and Venida Farm in Iligan City.
“Amazing, Wow, Memorable, Unforgettable, Once-in-a-lifetime, One-of-a-kind, Unique, Walang katulad, Extraordinary” and many more words of appreciation were the answer of some ATI Nueve staff when asked one word to describe the experience of the activity.
Indeed, because of the activity ATI Nueve staff were now able to define, understand LSA and can definitely increase its promotion in the region through their learnings and experiences during the activity in other LSAs in Northern Mindanao.
Other than learning the best practices from LSA of Region 10, ATI-RTC 10 was very accommodating and gladly shared their center’s innovations and best practices to all the ATI Nueve staff. Undeniably, it is all smiles as old friends reunited, new acquaintances met, best practices shared and new learnings gained during the Courtesy Call and Welcome Program held in the ATI 10 Office in El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental.
The three (3) batches of LSA Benchmarking and Learning Journey was held last February 3-6, 11-14 and 17-20, 2020 in Northern Mindanao, specifically in Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City.
