ATI-7 cap Lifestyle Medicine Best Practice Award

Tagbilaran City – The Agricultural Training Institute – VII (ATI-7) which regional office located in Cabawan District, this City was conferred a Lifestyle Medicine Best Practice award in the recent 2020 First Midyear Conference of the Philippine College of Lifestyle Medicine (PCLM) held at Royal Mandaya Hotel, Davao City on Feb 2-4, 2020 with the theme: “Lifestyle Medicine: The foundation of Healthcare.

ATI Central Visayas was recognized by PCLM as the first and only existing Government agency that promotes and initiates Lifestyle Medicine Education in their programs.

“Thank you ATI-7 for involving Remnant Institute and PCLM in your projects. We hope the rest of the regions will follow and appreciate not only value-adding for agricultural products and services but most importantly the evidence-based health education for both consumers and the producers” said Dr. Mechelle Acero-Palma, President, PCLM.

Presented the award were Dr. Mechelle Acero-Palma, President of PCLM assisted by Dr. Arleen Joy Vallejo, Dr. Johann Kim Manez and Dr. Monaliza Xavier all diplomate of International Board of Lifestyle Medicine. Meanwhile, Dr. Carolyn May O. Daquio, Center Director of ATI-7 accepted the reward together with Dr. Gracia F. Arado, TCS-I and Merigine Otara, PO II.

In its quest to provide excellent extension services beyond boundaries, ATI-7 rolled out programs and projects that forward lifestyle medicine cause and practiced the highest standards of lifestyle medicine.

In 2019 ATI-7 launched #UGyap (an acronym for Urban Green, Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell Yap, and Governor Arthur Yap) a program in partnership with the Provincial Government of Bohol, City Government of Tagbilaran and DepEd City Division which aims to provide sustainable and available food for everyone (SAFE) and to institutionalize culinary medicine in both elementary and secondary schools. Likewise, a free seminar on Preparation of Healthy Juices, Urban greens processing cum culinary medicine and series of Health and Wellness training was held in the region on the same year.
