RCEF’S TRAINING PROGRAMS KICK-OFF IN THE REGION

ILOILO, City – The Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund’s (RCEF) extension component in the region kicks off with the conduct of the Training on Inbred Rice Seed Production and Certification for Seed Growers of Region VI on October 7-11, 2019 at EON Centennial Hotel and Water Park, Iloilo City that was participated by 30 farmers from Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Antique, and Capiz.

Ms. Christy Mardoquio, Agriculturist I, led the field tour at the Demonstration Site, Bureau of Plant Industry – National Seed Quality Control Services, WESVIARC, Hamungaya, Jaro, Iloilo that focused on giving some insights and concepts on seed growing. This activity enabled and developed prospective farmers to become accredited seed growers.

The Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund or RCEF is a complimentary program to the Rice Tarrification Law. This 10-billion funded program will help farmers transition to a new rice regime. (DBM, 2019). RCEF is consist of four components, namely: 1. Rice Farm Machineries and Equipment, 2. Rice Seed Development, Propagation, and Promotion, 3. Expanded Rice Credit Assistance, and 4.
