T he Agricultural Training Institute in CaLaBaRZon, formerly based at UPLB College in Los Baños, Laguna is one of the original twelve training centers of the Philippine Training Centers for Rural Development (PTC-RD).
The Department of Agriculture through the Executive Order No. 116 under Section 20 merged the Philippine Agricultural Training Council, Philippine Training Center for Rural Development and Bureau of Agricultural Extension on January 1987. This paved way for the establishment of the Agricultural Training Institute mandated then to train Ministry field technicians in extension work with emphasis on technology transfer techniques; train generalists in regional field offices; and conduct multi-level training programs to promote and accelerate rural development.
More training centers had been established since then, including the ATI in Trece Martires City, Cavite. The National Training Center of the former PTC-RD became the ATI – National Training Center at UPLB and the ATI in Trece Martires City, Cavite was formerly the ATI-Regional Training Center.
On October 2003, the ATI refocused refocused its services and converged its resources in each region. Thus, the ATI at Trece Martires City, Cavite and the ATI at Los Baños, Laguna became one and now called the Agricultural Training Institute Regional Training Center in CaLaBaRZon. It has a total of 38 personnel with 23 regular staff and 15 Job Order employees. The Center covers the five provinces of the CaLaBaRZon area comprising of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon.
