The Agricultural Training Institute-Central Luzon (ATI-CL) kicked off its validation for new learning sites for agriculture (LSA) in the region through visiting Gubat Farm Resort in Salapao, Bagac, Bataan on February 12, 2020.
Mr. Guillermo S. Bantugan, owner of the said farm, discussed the innovations and interventions of the farm especially in farm management. He also showcased their two (2) greenhouses made up of low-cost bamboo materials. The farm has also been practicing Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
After the validation, ATI-CL discussed the responsibilities of the farm co-operator as an LSA, as well as the duties of ATI. The team recommended the following: (1) establishment of farm composting area; (2) proper waste management; and (3) establishment of small holding area.
The certification as LSA will be given if the farm fulfills the recommendations.
ATI-CL has certified over 80 LSAs in Central Luzon. These LSAs employ agricultural technologies and farming strategies which they are successful in its application and implementation. Following the big brother-small brother concept, these progressive farmers are lending a hand to small-hold farmers in their vicinity. (JNidua)
